The XBox One was revealed today at the #XBoxReveal event by Microsoft and it's had the social media networks buzzing about their thoughts on the new gaming system. It looks like Microsoft is stressing the living room experience and incorporating live TV into the system. I need to find out more about how this works, because I'm pretty sure I could just press the HDMI button on my remote if I wanted to watch TV. I think it will be integrated more though and they already showcased some in-game live TV sequences that were built into the game. Other than that, one new feature that caught my eye is that Skype will be the main communication software between gamers. I like that consolidation and Microsoft, who bought Skype, is naturally utilizing it in their upcoming next-gen console. Overall though, I'm not too impressed, but these screenshots of RGIII in Madden are looking pretty crispy. NBA LIVE 14 is also coming — as a die-hard LIVE fan, I'm always intrigued.
Gamers, in addition to the pics, enjoy this humorous editing job on the "XBox One Reveal Highlights" as well as the new trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts, out this November. More details on the XBox One here.
With the next generation of gaming consoles upon us this 2013 comes a new wave of exciting energy for fans of video games and technology. Perhaps the banner game release for the new PlayStation 4 this holiday season will be Watch Dogs — a hybrid GTA, Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed set in our hometown of Chicago.
Above is a new video with the creators of the game, talking about how Watch Dogs will translate to the PS4 (it will also be available for the PS3 and all other consoles, including Microsoft's next-gen console). It even includes a couple new glimpses at the game, involving some scenes from the bad. ass. trailer released last month (brought back below). In fact, if this is all new to you, then I'd suggest starting with the trailer down under. The plot is unique and could take these games to another level. And did I mention "Watch Dogs" was set in Chicago?! Not based in Chicago, but actually Chicago. The detail already looks amazing. Cannot. Wait.
Allow me to jump in on the fun 3.5 million views after the fact. Sorry, yesterday was a busy day. Yup, in just one day GTAV proves it's the most hotly anticipated video game on the horizion (Halo 4 and COD's recent releases help that argument) with an amazing 2 minute trailer of what we can expect.
And what can we expect? Short answer: everything and anything. Every action hero sequence you can imagine can be duplicated here. The graphics, the capabilities, everything looks pretty amazing. Still hazy on the storyline is going to play out but that detail will be sure to come soon. Same goes with how the gameplay's going to work. No doubt though that Rockstar Games will knock this one out of the park this coming Spring, 2013.
UPDATE: This official promo poster confirms the Spring, 2013 release. Get ready, GTA fans!
10.29.11: The latest word on the GTA V release date from Poland (yes, the birthplace of Chopin, Copernicus, and Pope John Paul II, that Poland) is the slightly vague and ambiguous "spring, 2013". That's what this website is revealing with the above leaked images of 'official' promo posters for GTA V. But we can't say for sure until we hear or see something official from Rockstar, vis-a-vis this recently revealed artwork below.
Whatever the case, just the mere sight of those four letters together (which is does not double as a word in Words With Friends, I've already checked) has me stoked for a new chapter of Grand Theft Auto.
Over 3 million views and rising, this new viral video comes courtesy of the Ohio St. Marching Band's halftime show this past weekend. How can a marching band garner 3 million views, you ask? Because they amazingly portrayed their love of video games through a series of formations, and of course the theme music, that illustrated such classics as Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Pacman, and Halo. In fact, they even reenact some of those games' iconic moments.
I'm sure a lot of you will enjoy this one and before you know it, 9 minutes will have gone by and it would have felt like 2. My favorite part has to be the still that may have reeled in your click (the horse, wait til you see what they did there). And the ending does the whole performance just. Can't help but appreciate the choreography and intricies that must've taken a collective focus and much time to prepare for. Even if you're a Michigan fan, I think you'll enjoy this video above, hah!
NBA 2K13 in stores tomorrow! And today, they reveal one of their more powerful TV spots, as you may recognize who nararates the video above. That same person is a special guest caller in one of their recent promotional videos discussing the greatest dunker of all time. High comedy below in case you missed that.
If you're planning on copping 2K on PS3, play your boy Sgt. Tibs online at "gowherehiphop". See ya on the (virtual) court.
Perhaps the biggest new feature of NBA 2K13 we're most anticipating... the Dream Team! This brand new trailer shows the greatest team ever up against it's greatest test ever - the 2012 gold medalists - in a matchup that we're all going to recreate within .007 seconds of putting the game in. Gotta love that ending.
Watch and enjoy above and as a bonus, here's the 'All Star' trailer below that I missed recently. NBA 2K13 is in stores October 2nd. (Ladies, take note. This day is like Madden's release date, part 2.)
Already pumped for October 2nd. And the new official trailer released by 2K Sports for NBA 2K13 just amplified that level even more. All 30 teams are spotlighted in this 2 minute spot so there's a lot of players to look out for, but nothing tops Javale McGee alley ooping himself off the backboard. This game is already shaping up to be the most realistic basketball video game ever.
Above and below are three official new screenshots from the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, via Rockstar Games themselves. Perhaps we can fly a jet this time around? And we can definitely take a ride in a Cheetah that's lookin' better than ever. Or we can be economical and take a bicycle around San Andreas. Whatever the case, this game can't come soon enough. Date still TBA.
Today's big announcement from 2K Sports lives up to the hype as in their newest installment of their award-winning 2K series, NBA 2K13 will feature the '92 Dream Team as a playable team! "Play as the greatest", 2K says. October 2nd, we'll all be able to. Simply awesome... can't you just feel the power from that image above?
And oh, now we can settle the rather ridiculous '92 Dream Team vs. '12 Gold Medal Team debate with 2K13.
