Gamers out there, how excited are you for the PS4?
If you double as a huge NBA 2K fan, I promise you your excitement level will be at an all-time high after watching the new next-gen trailer above. It features actual PS4 game footage "with variable camera angles" and gives us the best glimpse of the new engine's graphics yet. Some of the grimaces and detail are so on point (Ex: LeBron post-dunk, Harden's beard) that it genuinely feels like a close layer away to real life. Watch above and enjoy for yourself.
Above is the new 1 minute intro that will begin your journey into NBA 2K14 this October. LeBron fans, you'll enjoy this. The cover boy narrates the motivational opening that is rather appropriately set to "Hate Me Now". There's a mix of in-game footage of LeBron (those blocks are sick) with LeBron talking, covered in sweat to add to the mood. LeBron haters? You'll be pressing start to skip.
Today, basketball thirsty fans like myself were greatly excited to see the official new trailer from 2K Sports for their upcoming installment of the video game giant: NBA 2K14. It looks like the trailer uses game footage from the PS3/XBox360 engines in case you're wondering if we're seeing some PS4 action. That'll come soon enough as the trailer concludes.
Give it a watch above. Then read this:
I agree with you that the trailer's strangest moment was a tie between following up the LeBron scenes with Terrence Ross and KG in a Brooklyn Nets uniform playing at whatever the Boston Garden is called today. Weird, right? Regardless, how can you not be juiced for the return of the NBA and 2K14?! The former begins with our hometown Bulls visiting the defending champion Heat in Miami on October 29th and the latter will be one month prior on October 1st!
Today, Sony announced the release date of the PlayStation 4 and this means we have less than 3 months to get excited for... November 15th!
I can't wait to try out the next-gen gaming system — whether it's 2K14, Watch Dogs (of which there's a new trailer for), or GTAV... the latter of which I felt its impending release walkin around Chicago yesterday...
GTA V Online Revealed (Official Video: Rockstar Games)
GTA V continues to tease. This beautiful 3-minute video showcases the action, stunts, characters, customizing options, and a sense of how multiplayer online play will work. I was more taken aback by the beautiful graphics and the countless options of what you can do. Whoo! How gaming has progressed... sit back and watch.
NEW Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer
Oh, hello there Eminem. Quite possibly The best week in hip hop only gets better with the new single reveal from Marshall Mathers in the new Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer that came out today. It sounds like it features his labelmate and frequent collaborator the past few years: Skylar GreyLiz Rodrigues, along with the many gunshots and explosions from the game, hah! The song itself is very fitting in fact; call it a pump-up "survival of the fittest" song as Skylar croons on the hook (of what's rumored to be called "Survival"). I like what I hear so far... I can already imagine this one over the loudspeakers playing basketball at my gym. And the Eminem/Skylar combo has yet to yield anything disappointing (that goes for Liz too on the 'Recovery' album). More details, and hopefully the official release, to come soon!
The UPDATE you have been waiting for... here's the FULL/CDQ of "Survival" — Eminem's new single NOT featuring Skylar Grey and instead featuring Liz Rodrigues, with DJ Khalil providing the production.
Rockstar Games just put GTA fans in a frenzy with this one. It's the new official gameplay video that highlights myriad features and capabilities along with the most detailed look at the story and main characters. Plus, as impressive as this is and looks — 1. the gamplay footage is confirmed to be from the PS3 (next gen consoles are going to be even sweeter) and 2. GTA V Online has yet to be "properly revealed". Just a couple months out: September 17th. Watch and enjoy above.
One highlight on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week was Black Thought kicking some dope rhymes over the Super Mario Bros. theme song. Love the flow over this, just wish it could be longer. So what other video game music should get a hip hop twist to it?
One off the top is an old *Tibs Fav. from S-Preme. He killed a Mortal Kombat-sampled, Charles Hamilton production called "Test Your Might" in 2009. Enjoy this bonus track below.
In the past couple of days, there has been a lot of fallout from the annual E3 expo as Sony and Microsoft dueled over their new, next-gen consoles, but more importantly, we as fans got to see some of the most anticipated games for the new systems using their engines — some for the first time. Above is the most unique new game that I want to try: "Watch Dogs", which you may have seen me post on before. The new "Exposed" trailer highlights Aiden Pierce using the technology to catch a human trafficker, while the video below is a 7 minute look at the actual gameplay. And at 7 minutes, this really needed to be longer. Yes, Watch Dogs keeps looking incredible, and yes, so does Chicago.

Watch Dogs — Gameplay Demo
Down below is another cool game I just found out about for the first time: Tom Clancy's The Division. It's an open-world, RPG game where you and your friends can decide to team up on one of two factions in a near-apocalyptic world. The gameplay shows off all the cool new ways the systems are expanding to include you and your friends from also a tablet. You're actually talking with your friends in a more advanced way while in the game as well (it's kind of scary). And one little detail to watch out for: look for your player to casually close a half-open police door. It doesn't sound impressive but it's the first time these little details will be in games like this. Go PS4 and XBox One!

Tom Clancy's The Division — Gameplay
One more video game to spotlight: NBA 2K14. It was revealed last week that King James would be the cover boy for next year's edition and in the newest look at the game for the next-gen systems, 2K Sports reveals the next level of graphics for the players. Digital James looks very realistic overall, even through a couple awkward mouth movements. But this is the highest we've ever seen the graphics and as a result the players. Plus, as an added bonus: the whole video is LeBron talking to Virtual LeBron... which is such a LeBron thing to do, right? Ha!

NBA 2K14: LeBron talks to Virtual LeBron
OK, to end the roundup on a silly note: here's Sony owning Microsoft with this simple 20 second video highlighting quite a big feature difference between the PS4 and XBox One. Hah! This is great.

Shouts to my main man Brugge for sharing some of these videos with me last nite!
As if he hasn't already done it all, Kanye West is now time-traveling and battling the clones of hiphop icons in this fan-produced JRPG, Kanye Quest 3030. Fans can now listen to their favorite Yeezy songs while helping the rapper navigate the year 3030 and ultimately find his way back home.
The game is currently only available on Windows, so Mac users will have to remain in 2013 for their Kanye fix. The rapper's sixth album, Yeezus, is set for release on June 18th, however no clones have been reported to be involved in the project.
