First off, the beat and synth in this song is every hip hop dancer's DREAM. I stumbled across Cierra Lauren after looking at some World of Dance videos, and as always I'm taken by strong female dancers that can come correct. In "King Company" by Tyga featuring Honey Cocaine, Cierra chose to dance to the Honey Cocaine song, and I am glad she did. If you know the song, Tyga's part just doesn't come as high energy as Honey Cocaine's from a dance perspective. Personal favorite moment: 0:48 when she hits the synth... or just anytime she goes off on that musicality (check out 0:23 as well). As a female hip hop dancer, being able to hold that hip hop swag with a sexy girly flair makes her extremely versatile. She can do contemporary hip hop, too! (see below) Yay, for finding new dancers, let's support.
A few hours ago ChopStar Slim K dropped the third installment to his slowed and throwed mixtape series Purple Children. If you're into the chopped and screwed sound, you'll love this! These collabs with modern-day renaissance man Robert Gallardo are great mixes, through and through. A combination of hit songs and those of up and coming artists makes for a good balance of mainstream and underground, strung together with chops, phasers, and brakes. To fully enjoy the "H-Tyne" experience, listen to the tape cover to cover (the crossfades are unreal!) Check out Slim K's website for his other mixes, including PC 1 and 2.
