Earlier this weekend, we were beaming with hometown pride as our own DJ Trentino — the U.S.A. National Champ — represented well in the qualifiers to make the finals of the RedBull3Style World Finals. Since then, the final competition took place and first place went to Japan's DJ Shintaro.
For all the DJs in the qualifiers and finals, this was a big stage for the top crown that also featured guest performers like a DJ Jazzy Jeff, Maseo (of De La Soul), and A-Trak. With some of the biggest DJs in the world also giving the grades, you know this was the competition of all DJ competitions. We're definitely proud of Trentino for reppin' for the hometown and look forward to getting to know more on DJs like Shintaro, Chile's DJ Byte and Germany's DJ Eskei83 (who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively).
We can all do just that over at Red Bull's recap, which features that same TV show style recap AND all of the 6 DJs' mixes from the World Finals. That's right, all HQ audio. You won't have any excuse to play something in the background today. Begin below with Trentino's (who begins it with some Malcolm Gladwell?! *nods head*), and one last congrats to all the DJs who made it and repped for their country!

The WORLD Finals of RedBull3Style's DJ Competition is ongoing this week in Toronto and culminating tonight as the winners of the four qualifers the four nights before will come together for the final night, and one champion will be crowned.
Trentino won night 3 on Thursday — let's wish him luck in the last battle tonight! He's the national champ and is going up against fellow national champs from all over the world: Chile, Belgium, Japan, you name it and every country in between.
Watch the TV Show-style recap below that features footage from each of the DJs' sets, A-Trak's headlining set, and interviews with a judge on why he won, and Trentino himself. I'll be tuned into social media to see if, our own Who Dough calls the best DJ outta Chicago, can take the world crown!
July's US edition of the Red Bulletin Magazine (which you can download for free in the app store by the way) features two talented Chicago artists who are both doin' very rad things - Trentino & ShowYouSuck. Trentino, who was recently crowned US Champion of Red Bull Thre3Style, is simply a master mixologist / party shaman. Before performing at Chicago's Spring Awakening Fest next weekend, and competing in the Thre3Style World Finals in November, he offers up a few tips on getting the crowd dancing at your set. Read a few pages later and you'll find a great spotlight on ShowYouSuck, written by Andrew Barber (FSD). ShowYouSuck's most recent jam "Watching Walking Dead" is very much characteristic of the young MC, who's rhymes are far more likely to referece pizza and cartoons than drugs and money. And, of course, you can catch him live tonight at Lincoln Hall for Alex Wiley's mixtape (Club Wiley) release party. Salute fellas.
