Over the summer, Drake became the "global ambassador" for the Toronto Raptors. That essentially means he'll be the face of the franchise. The first sign of this came today when this promo video for the Raptors debuted for the season's start. For those who feel Drake is soft, you'll probably enjoy how the first few seconds of him talking goes down. But anyway, it looks like it worked — the Raptors won tonight over the Celtics.
Late last week, news came out that Toronto would become the host city for 2016 All-Star Weekend, to which many hip hop-loving basketball fans immediately concluded that Drake is already booked for halftime. While that's still unofficial (it may as well be official), one thing that is official is that Drake is the new "global ambassador" for the Toronto Raptors.
That's right! Enter Drizzy as the next hip hop artist to be directly affiliated with an NBA team. His responsibilities will include being a host, business partner, and consultant for the Raps. I'm not sure how actively involved he'll be exactly, but I'm pretty sure we'll hear a line from him about saving basketball in Canada on the next album. In the meantime, it's still NWTS and video of the announcement is above.
