A couple tidbits from T.I. about his new deal with Columbia — the deal is purely a solo one and his Grand Hustle stable will remain independent. That actually sounds like a win-win-win for Columbia, T.I., and the Grand Hustle crew, who I think will benefit from staying independent.
T.I. is said to be working on his first album for Columbia with Timbaland, DJ Toomp, and Pharrell — the latter of whom will be executive producing the project. Whenever Tip and P get together, I've been a fan. Lookin' forward to 2014 for T.I.!
Iggy Azalea & T.I. concluded Letterman's pre-Thanksgiving show with a performance of Iggy's "Change Your Life". This is the current single to her upcoming album, The New Classic, which will drop in 2014. Watch above ICYMI.
T.I.'s long free agency has ended with him and his label Grand Hustle Records taking their talents to Columbia Records. Here's the official statement:
“I’m honored to be partners with such a successful, passionate and creative conglomerate like Columbia Records, who respects and supports the vision of their artist and partners. Nothing but love, respect & appreciation for Doug Morris, Rob Stringer and the entire staff. Also, a special thank you to my big bruh, Sk8board P, for always believing in me and also executive producing my upcoming project.”
The album will also be executive produced by Pharrell and T.I. is also working with Timbaland, his longtime producer DJ Toomp, and Justin Timberlake (addressed below). Big things to come from Tip; I think he's got another nice album in the works by the prospect of all above.
