I've been meaning to check out Tyler The Creator & Odd Future's Loiter Squad series for awhile now. I've never been the biggest fan of Odd Future, but have always respected their originality and continued actions of staying true to themselves. I've also been coming around on Tyler's music especially (Wolf has some jams on it).
Now last night, I was watching late night cartoons with my dad (yup, Papa Tibs is pretty awesome) on the Adult Swim. One episode of Cleveland Show, then two of Family Guy, then to my surprise: Loiter Squad (I didn't know when it airs). By this point, Papa Tibs had nodded off and went to bed while I was about ready to shut off the disracting TV to get back to work. Sure enough, I couldn't press the power button before realizing that it was Tyler posing as Mo'Nique. Hah!
Now fully reeled in, I enjoyed fast-pace sketches spoofing Survivor with rappers (the Drake and DMX impersonations were on point), Kiss (the heavy metal band), and just an overall, eclectic, and straight up odd mix of different types of skits that were broken up throughout the 10 or 11 minute episode. The audience loves things (and has the attention for) small doses so I thought the structure of the show was great. Same with the length. Because while I throughouly and surprisingly enjoyed all of the humor in the 10-11 minutes, I don't think I couldn't watched a full 30. And I definitely think Papa Tibs would have drawn the line there (weird humor like Odd Future is well past the line he draws to Will Ferrell movies, unfortunately. The Simpsons and Family Guy is about the extent he'll go, hah.)
In summary, I haven't watched Loiter Squad before last night. It was odd and hilarious and I enjoyed it. The episode is also ripped to the interwebs so you can enjoy it yourself above (*tips hat*Yardie).
