Sunday marked the release of Derrick Rose's 4th signature shoe release with adidas — simply the #DRose4 — and what better way to launch the shoe than back home at the United Center. adidas put on the event featuring a half-full United Center of mainly Chicago youth, who were treated to free tees, and a lucky few with the shoes themselves. Plus, quite the extravagant event!
Rose was introduced like it was his first game back, complete with Bulls P.A. announcer Tommy Edwards and the legendary Bulls theme music. It was a chilling sampling of what we can expect during the Bulls home opener in a little over a month. Shortly after Rose's introductory words, he got to do the introducing — and it was for none other than Big Sean. Sean flew into Chicago and performed his biggest hits at the beginning and end of the event. In between, he and Rose judged an amazing slam dunk contest (with the best amateur dunkers flown in from throughout the country), as Rose partook with a few alley-oops, as well as in a shooting game with the youth. All in all, it was quite the memorable event and we were happy to cover it courtside.
Enjoy the series of photos from the event above and see the shoe in detail with my earlier photo post and commentary here. And finally, stay tuned for our video recap going live soon!
#Salute adidas for putting on a great event and on the new shoe...
This is always an exciting time of the year. The refreshing Fall weather always cools down a sizzling summertime Chi. Football season is underway (and the Bears are good). TV Season is transitioning from finales (like Breaking Bad and Dexter) to the start of new seasons. And, what takes precedence over all of the above: the NBA is right around the corner!
An annual sign of basketball's return is the release of our hometown hero Derrick Rose's new signature shoe with adidas. The #DRose4 was revealed in grandiose fashion here in Chicago yesterday at the United Center as D. Rose was back home to showcase the shoe to thousands of Chicago youth. We'll have more coverage coming from the event today. This post is purely about the #DRose4 shoe.
The away and home editions were released as the customary Bulls color scheme of black, red, and white were mixed for these versions that Rose will be wearing on the court upon his long-awaited return.
The #DRose4 — Away
As you'll notice, the signature three stripes are on the back heel and there is an abrupt contrast in materials and color between the heel and the forefront of the shoe. After seeing this in person, I can attest that this contrast looks great from far away and give the #DRose4 a unique feature for any casual basketball fan watching the Bulls this year. While it's distinctive, the Bulls color scheme doesn't make it too flashy. Overall, the #DRose4 aestetically possesses a nice balance of unique features, materials, and color placements. I'm excited to see five other colorways to be released throughout the year.
The #DRose4 — Home
For more information on the technology behind the #DRose4 visit adidas.com and you can cop the shoe and Rose's new collection on October 10th (the shoe retails for $140).
Lastly, we're a big fan of the creative process and so it was also great to see adidas unveiling three sketches of the Rose 4 in development. Take a look at these behind the scenes photos and even more on our tumblr, where we also gave you a sneak peak of photos from yesterday's event at the United Center. More photos and video to come!

Who didn't have the Pumps back in the early 90s? I sure did. Ever since Dee Brown made 'em famous in the '91 Dunk Contest (below), they've been an iconic fixture for Reebok's brand. Now they're re-releasing a "Dee Brown" version called the Reebok Pump Omni Lite and it's available as of this past weekend for $114. I have a spidey sense that you'll be seeing this shoe out at upcoming concerts and fashion boutiques... what do you think?

Shawn Kemp vs. Dee Brown in the 1991 Slam Dunk Contest
(I woulda gave this to Kemp. Was rooting for him back in the day, but Dee won me over with the Pumps. Yes, I was only 4 years old, but I vividly remember this Dunk Contest, ha!)
This weekend, Converse unveiled their new "Simpsons" sneaker collection, which features the iconic yellow family on different shoes spitting signature catch phrases ("D'oh!") or stuck in detention yet again. The shoes are available through Converse and also at Journeys.
As a fan of both Converse and especially The Simpsons, I like the new collection a lot. My favorite is actually the Lisa, Maggie, Marge shoe because of the secondary characters drawn on top of one another. It reminds me of the columns at are office by J. Pak...

Your move, Yeezy Season (?)
How I'd like to imagine Kanye's reaction is to this news
A new preview pic has surfaced of the upcoming 4th signature installment of adidas' D Rose series, and as we see above, the shoe's style looks like an extention of the 3 and 3.5 with some minor stylistic tweaks along the way. I like the unique brushed upper especially as the Rose 4 will also update with a split toe box. More, hopefully official, images and details to come soon.
A few new pics (Instagrams) of the Red/Red Yeezy II's have surfaced! I should note that I'm looking into the source and if there is official confirmation, but as far as I can tell, it looks legit. And while the quality or angle of the pic isn't exceptional, these images successfully tease the new release. 'Fresh' is my go-to adjective to describe fashion or sneakers, and fresh is an understatement from what I see in the first image. I love the idea of the Red/Red and look forward to seeing what the final product looks like with some official images. At this rate after tonight's leak, the premiere of the shoe on SNL, plus Yeezus on the way soon, I sense we'll get those sooner than later.
Above is a new colorway of the much-talked about Air Jordan XX8. The shoe released earlier in the year and come June 1st, this "Black/Bright Citrus-Cool Grey" can be had by those who care not that their shoes are loud. If Russell Westbrook was still playing (and I wish he was), he'd surely be rocking these on the court. Thunder colors and it'll be a mere footnote in a long list of his most flamboyant fashion choices. There's even a tumblr even dedicated to his ridiculously poor fashion sense. As much as these are Thunder colors, their also Knick colors so maybe we'll see Melo rockin' these when New York hits the road tomorrow vs. Indiana.
What do you think of the XX8 Black/Citrus/Cool Grey?
Recently I was discussing with friends about Chuck Taylor's and grabbing a fresh pair for the spring, well in a week from today on May 10 Converse is releasing a new exculsive style Chuck Taylor All Star OX. This particular style is different from the orginal because the shoe is suede and the shoe comes in four colors which are Fig, Phaeton Grey, Bijou Blue and Warm Sand. I think these are fresh and gives consumers a diffrent variety. It's nice to switch up the style and I think these are a hit.
Just in time for Spring, Nike is releasing their new Nike Air Max 95 before the month is out. I've personally been wearing Air Max 95's since 2008 so I'm anxious for the new ones to release. The style of the shoe is stil the traditional format, however the colors are different. The two options are either orange and grey, or blue and grey but both are fresh! Hope you grab a pair because these will look nice in the sun.
