Since the untimely passing of Paul Walker last weekend, Tyrese is someone we can all feel for as he's put out some raw and emotional words throughout the week on his social channels. Plus, there was the emotion of him breaking down at the Paul Walker crash site. Now, Tyrese channeled those feelings onto music with this new tribute song featuring fellow Fast & The Furious co-star Ludacris and The Roots.
It's hard not to appreciate the words by both Tyrese and Luda and sonically, it's just the right mood for it too. You can tell The Roots influence on it, with the hook also standing out as well. You can listen to this tribute song with some appropriate accompanying footage below. R.I.P. Paul Walker.
This weekend, we were all shook at the tragic passing of actor Paul Walker. As a huge fan of the Fast & The Furious movies and Paul's chief role, I was pretty distraught myself and following all of the stories on the accident, celebrity reactions, etc.
One celebrity reaction came from none other than RZA. I'll let him take it away:
This song, entitled "Destiny Bends" was written last night after hearing the tragic news of the loss of a good man named Paul Walker. I met Paul on the set of the film Brick Mansion, where we talked, laughed, and exchanged ideas of life and fatherhood. I only knew him personally for less than a year, but we knew each other through our work and art. We saw in each other a kindred spirit of men coming from unlikely circumstances, and rising to be the light and beacon of our family and loved ones. Men who learned the joy and pains of love in life, and success, while coming to realize that nothing is more important than family, friendship, and the brotherhood of humanity. Millions of people get to know an artist or movie star through their work, but few are allowed to cross each others' paths and see through the veil of stardom and find the common denominator that we share. As all physical things will decay and wither away, film, art, and music remain longer than the vessel that delivered them. In this vein, the one thing we can't take away or give back is time. So, thus, time is the most precious gift. I dedicated my time to compose this song with my two sons and new friend Will Wells, who was kind enough to sing and perform it for me. We dedicate it to Paul Walker. A good man. We had plans to continue working with each other in the future. It seemed destined, but "destiny bends".
(how well-said is this?)
The harmonies and melodies are on point and really capture the solemn mood. It's touching, and I'm able to think positively because of that overarching theme.
And I'd like to also echo everyone's sentiments with an R.I.P. to Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas. I can't help but feel the heartbreak that Tyrese personified when he visited the accident scene yesterday. Truly truly heartbreaking. R.I.P.
Some sad news to pass along on this Christmas Eve morning, as Pro Era emcee Capital Steez has passed away at the young age of 19. There has been no cause of death officially determined, but speculation is that he took his own life, with a chilling "The End." being his last tweet. Joey Bada$$ tweeted this, confirming Capital's death:
This unfortunate xmas eve.. Lost a best friend, a brother, a pro, a partner. Letting go is never easy.. May ur soul rest in peace Jamal.. RIP CAPITAL STEEZ!!! 7.7.93 – 12.24.12. This comes off the heels of Pro Era's new project, Peep: The Aprocalypse, this weekend. R.I.P. to a rising Brooklyn artist, Capital Steez.
