Here is the remix to "Pink Matter" - the original version that was supposed to feature OutKast reunited, but ultimately only Andre 3000 made the channel Orange version, since they didn't want the OutKast reunion to happen on someone else's record.
Big Boi's verse is new - and this one's a must-grab for any Frank fans, any OutKast fans... any music fans.
As planed earlier this summer both André 3000 and Big Boi from Outkast were supposed to appear on Frank Ocean's Channel Orange. These plans fell through because of Big Boi who explained himself through Twitter, he "didn't want an Outkast Record Coming out on anybody else LP." However, André 3000 still kept his spot on the album.
Plans have now changed and a few days ago Big Boi representatives confirmed a new version of "Pink Matter" which will include Frank Ocean and André 3000 together with Big Boi. This will mark the first Outkast appearance in 6 months.
This doesn't seem to be a one time thing since Big Boi announced on Twitter today that him and André 3000 will also make an appearance on T.I.'s "Sorry", there is still no date to when the single will be released but now we all have something to look forward to.
Following up on a story I posted earlier this week, Big Boi took to Twitter to disclaim that there's any beef or hostility towards his OutKast partner-in-crime-good music, Andre 3000. I remember reading that quote the other day and thinkin' the press may have taken that and spun it, and sure enough, that's what looks like the case. Phew! Hopefully things do align in the near future where Big Boi & Andre 3000 are in the studio making music once again.
The referenced Gillette Statement: "He could've been on any song he wanted to. I gave the motherfucker about 5 songs, but I guess he was just too busy. He said he had to do some Gillette shit [room erupts in laughter]. No for real. He said he had some contractual obligations." (via The Village Voice)
In a flurry of news from new interviews today, Big Boi sheds some light on his current working relationship with Andre 3000. This first quote comes off particularly strong.
As to why 3 Stacks is not on the album:
"He could've been on any song he wanted to. I gave the motherfucker about 5 songs, but I guess he was just too busy. He said he had to do some Gillette shit [room erupts in laughter]. No for real. He said he had some contractual obligations." (via The Village Voice)
He talks with Hot 97 about a potential OutKast reunion:
"It's whatever man. If Dre's ready to do it and I'm not on tour all around the world, let's go, for sure."
And his reaction to Andre 3000's apology on T.I.'s "Sorry":
"I don't really get it. Awkward... I don't get it. I don't know, I gotta ask him," Big Boi said, before saying he didn't feel an apology was even needed.
Interesting tidbits. For the full videos of Big Boi on Hot 97 today and Andre 3000 talking about the T.I. collab and Big Boi's upcoming solo album, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors, head on over to our Videos page.
