Nylo makes her mark on summer music with the fitting Indigo Summer EP — 7 must-have tracks for the R&B fan. I liked the couple previews in "Fool Me Once" and "Breakfast At Tiffany's", and now, the entire project from beginning to end. "Nobody Has To Know" sets the tone and features Gilbere Forte for some rhymes. "Cocaine Hearts" continues the good vibes but it was "Take It Back" — it's originality and subtleties — that I think took the project to the next level for me. It's a song to sit back and appreciate as Nylo keeps it real with her story. I love the intricate sounds that only continue with her 180 perspective on the Robin Thicke hit "Blurred Lines". Indigo Summer is all*Tibs Fav.status so digest this one from cover to cover. I like Nylo's description of the tape, that also features production from Tricky Stewart & Fisticuffs. Indigo Rose is the follow-up project to be up on next.
Last spring, a free project entitled Memories Speak, hit the internet, and was a surprise hit. Nylo garnered comparisons to Aaliyah and The Weeknd, and was called music’s best-kept secret.
Over the course of the past year, Nylo has been holed up in the studio crafting two new EPs, to pick up where Memories Speak left off: Indigo Summer and Indigo Rose. The Indigo Summer project, Nylo describes as “the re-introduction of color" into her life. You can expect the same delicate and soaring vocals, the same lyrical honesty, the same hybrid twist on R&B production, but this time maybe a little more color.
Chicago songstress Nylo drops a nice, soothing R&B record off her upcoming project, Indigo Summer with "Breakfast At Tiffany's" above. She adds: "Inspired by the most beautiful woman ever to grace the silver screen..." and given the title... perhaps she means Audrey Hepburn, the star of Breakfast of Tiffany's. Either way, the song is the highlight here. Digging the overall structure of the song and I can't help but appreciate the lyrics and perspective — one that I think a lot of people, male or female, can draw parallels to.
If you've never heard of Nylo then you are slipping beyond belief. After releasing the dope track "Fool Me Once" last week, and receiving a co-sign from Nas for the video she's back at with another gem. "Take It Back" is her newest release from her next project Indigo which is on the way, and I for one can't wait.
