Well it’s now confirmed that Frank Ocean will be hitting the stage this year for his first MTV VMA performance. Ocean now joins recentlyannouncedRihanna, Alicia Keys, Pink, Green Day, and One Direction. Ocean also released his debut album this year channel ORANGE that so far has only sold 262k in the US.
Let’s cross our fingers and hope MTV adds more exciting performers to this lineup, because I’m not really jumping up for joy right now.
What better way to bring in the Fall school season than a pessimistically outlooked track about college. The song “Drop|Out” features strong verses From (Both LegendBound Artists) Dev Ultra (@artlUveD), A verse and bridge from Armani White (@ArmaniLegendary) and shared Hook. With hard kicks from the producer “Nique” This serves as anthem for all of the students sitting in a class studying something they’ll never use in life and for those who are having a hard time balancing the aspirations for a degree with the financial debt outcome.
Surprisingly with all of Usher’s personal and profession setbacks he hasn’t fully abandon his album Looking 4 Myself. Today Usher announced a new single to be released from the album, which will be album cut ‘Dive’. Usher and his label have hope that this single will help boost his current album sales, which is currently at an underwhelming 327k.
Looking 4 Myself is one of Usher’s slowest selling albums of his career. The album only had one top ten hit and that was ‘Scream’, which peaked at #9 on the Hot 100. Usher has been in a career slump since his release of Raymond V. Raymond.
This is very disappointing considering Usher is the only artist to go diamond in the 2000’s with Confessions. Not to mention Usher became the first artist to top Billboard Hot 100 Airplay with three consecutive number-one singles. Also having the top three singles at the same time on the Hot 100. Maybe this is a sign that Usher should to go back to being an R&B artist rather then trying to chase a quick hit with pop music. R&B is currently on life support so why not.
