Yesterday was one of the more impressive MTV RapFix Freestyles yet. Chicago's own Vic Mensa kicked it off and you can just see the approval of A$AP Rocky & Bun B as he goes on. There are some true, off the dome freestyles throughout especially as Vic and A$AP go one after another to conclude it all. Sway brings in Oakland female emcee Glam for some nice bars as well. From beginning to end, this one's fun to follow. Watch and enjoy!
Chance The Rapper invaded MTV RapFix today and talked with Sway about his whirlwind of tours since the release of Acid Rap. One crazy story to come out of this: never meeting Eminem, even though he has opened for him out in Europe (and will do so again in Australia). Reason being: well, you'll have to watch above to hear Chance explain it.
Down below, he talks about his biggest accomplishment of his young and growing career thus far: working with Lil Wayne on "You Song". That's got to be right up there indeed!
Last week, and before last night's #TheSyndicate release here in Chicago, The Boy Illinoiswas out with Sway on MTV RapFix. The rising Chicago rapper joined Tech N9ne for a couple quick freestyles to close out the show. Tech's was break-neck fast, as you'd expect, but unfortunately cut too short. Then The Boy Illinois got some shine and delivered a slick set of rhymes that I had to rewind back again. It's unfortunate his flow was cut in the middle as they transitioned from Jams to online only, but Illi kept it going with no problem. Fellow NBA fans, keep an ear close to his Dirk/Mavericks/Heat reference. On point.
If you missed Sub-T last night, it was a another dope, GWHH-sponsored affair as The Boy Illinois was joined by Pavy, Capital K, Vic Spencer, TreStyle, and singer C. Rich as all the artists did their thing. Don't sleep on the two new releases — The Boy Illinois' Jean Baptiste and S.U.H. Ent's The Syndicate (featuring all of the above.)
The live stream is going on right now. At posting time, J. Cole is sitting down with Sway to talk about lyrics and stories behind Born Sinner, in stores now. Keep it tuned in for Chance.
UPDATE (3:48 CT): Waka Flocka joins the couch now, with Chance just ahead. Welcome to all of Chance's fans who flocked over here from Twitter. #Shoutout to the hometown homie. INCYMI though, hit the links below for the latest Chance videos and features.
UPDATE 2 (4:00 CT): Chance accidentally and hilariously kicked off the freestyle with a curse, which doesn't fly on MTV Jams. Watch now to catch the freestyle, only online embedded above!
UPDATE 3 (4:19 CT): Here's the final update. The live stream is now over. But you can rewatch the entire one hour episode above. J. Cole's genuine co-sign for Chance starts at the 52 minute mark. Chance talks briefly and then freestyles around the 59 minute mark. You can easily jump to those moments above!
