I made mention of it earlier today in the Pt. 3 post of the Eminem x Zane Lowe interview, but this one's worthy of its own post as Em just released this pic of he and Rihanna on set of "The Monster" today. Always cool to see stars of such high magnitude together, especially these two after "Love The Way You Lie" and now the soon to be #1 hit. I'm sure it'll jump past Lorde's "Royals" to that spot once the video is released (but maybe even sooner).
UPDATE: Not only does MMLP2 top the charts in its debut week... ALL of Eminem's 8 albums have charted in the Billboard 200. Looks like a new generation of Em fans are copping the full collection. Great to see.
#1 The Marshall Mathers LP 2 – 793,000
#30 The Marshall Mathers LP – 10,000 (Total 10,766,000)

#64 Recovery – 7,000 (Total 4,509,000)

"The “Rap God” has sold approximately 43,322,000 albums till date in the United States alone."
11.12.13: No surprise here, as it's MMLP2 taking top spot on this week's Billboard 200 selling an impressive 779K copies, via HDD. This marks the second biggest debut week of 2013, behind Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience Pt. 1 in March. It's Shady's World once again!
More Eminem this week as he took over the EMAs (European Music Awards). Em performed "Berzerk" and "Rap God" (above) and took home awards for Best Hip Hop Artist and Global Icon. Well-deserved.
While we're on the topic of award show performances, here's my early prediction that Eminem mixes "The Monster" with Rihanna with one of his classic hits and a surprise special guest (think along the lines of Elton John for "Stan" over a decade ago) at the Grammy's in a few months. You know how the Grammy's are and I'm sure that'll be a time after "Monster"'s reign at #1.
Eminem posted this image to prove it was him answering questions on FB. The internet quickly posted this MEME.
Yesterday afternoon, Eminem hopped on his Facebook page to do a Jay Z style Q&A with his fans now that the new album MMLP2 is in stores. Em answered a few questions on the album, but mainly channeled his inner Slim Shady to troll some of his fans. I was following along at the time in fact, and shared a few questions to Maks at the office. Now, we have a compilation of Shady's best answers. This was fun.
Today marked the return of Rap City as BET brought back host Big Tigger for a special episode with, you guessed it, Eminem. As with all of his interviews this week, Em discusses all things MMLP2 and all things Kendrick Lamar & Rihanna. This interview also touches on his past albums and also looking ahead at his career. Navigate the video player above for the interview, and hopefully some raps as well.
UPDATE: Here's that freestyle! Em & Slaughterhouse with Just Blaze.
And some thoughts... it goes without saying that all emcees did their thing. No shots, but I liked Royce & Crooked's another level above Joe & Joell's. Crooked's "Ooh Kill 'Em" punchline to conclude was my favorite punchline of 'em all, including Em (it may be that I'm partial to hilarious "Ooh Kill Em" Vines, but it's dope for anyone who isn't). Slaughterhouse was naturally the undercard for Eminem. Em asked Just to cut the beat and delivered such elite wordplay that I really felt it was on its own tier. I'll leave it at that. Take 10 minutes away from whatever you're doing now and press play below.
UPDATE: Above is that update I alluded to yesterday — the full one hour long interview with Sway that talks all things MMLP2 and even goes into some of the technical side of rap (writing verses, styles, more). Press play and keep it going in the background as you do other work on the interwebs today!
Plus, one more tidbit: Billboard is predicting a huge first week sales number for MMLP2 with 700-750K sold. That would be the #2 debut all year behind JT's 20/20 Experience Pt. 1. We'll update when the numbers become official.
11.05.13: I was lookin' forward to this one... last night, Sway showed his social media following he's got a big interview with Eminem coming today, on the official release of Marshall Mathers LP 2. Above is the first preview of it and Marshall's reveal that he immediately heard Rihanna for the hook of (his future #1 hit) "The Monster" and had to have her for it. The quotable:
“As soon as I got the beat I just heard her on it,” Em said. “I wanted to make sure that I had it finished first to be able to present to her, but once I had the rhymes done, I sent it to her.”
The full interview is slated to air on Shade45 in approximately 10 minutes after posting time (12 noon ET). Keep it locked here for what's sure to be an update with the interview after it airs.
A few new Eminem tidbits for you today — first off, the new preview above of the bonus track that comes with Call of Duty: Ghosts "Don't Front". No Buckshot yet, but Em has some nice lines over the raw aesthetic we hear thus far. Lookin' forward to this full version.
Below, he talks about the album and the two most high-profile collabs with Rihannaand Kendrick Lamar. Em says that "Love Game" was recorded weeks before "Control". Peep the audio with DJ Whoo Kid below.

And finally, the MMLP2 production credits. In fact, all the liner notes. They're too long to post, so hit XXL to view all the deets. Producers include: Rick Rubin (of course), Emile, Streetrunner, DJ Khalil, Eminem himself and Dre is only on board as a mixer.
Ok one more note: tune into SNL tonight to catch Eminem perform. I'll be tuned in and have GWHH updated when the videos hit the interwebs (so you can stay tuned here too :))
