You knew it was coming! The Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour officially kicked off last night in Atlanta and, as the title of the tour suggest, Lupe previewed new jams from the upcoming album. The first one being "Drizzy's Law", which you've undoubtedly seen Lupe hashtag and tweet about recently. The song has a slow and addicting production with an unknown singer on the chorus and Lu picking up the pace in his verses. I like what I'm hearing from the preview, and once again, just look forward to seeing this for myself in person when the tour hits Chicago at the bottom of the month.
Last night was the unofficial start to the Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour as Lupe performed live at UNF. Above and below are a couple of firsts: live performances of "Crack" (the not yet released track with Chris Brown) and the album's first single "Old School Love". It's some fan footage, but for those looking for a taste, check out the videos. I'll be waiting for when the tour comes to the hometown at the end of the month. For now, get your tickets and enjoy this when it hits your city too! The Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour officially begins tonight in Atlanta.
You knew it was coming! The video to Lupe Fiasco's official first single off Tetsuo & Youth"Old School Love" featuring Ed Sheeran. The two linked up yesterday to wrap up the filming and from the looks of the above and a couple more images below, the visual will have an appropriate old school, nostalgic feel. I mean, look at those plastic couches, the Atari joystick, even the "Old School Love" cassette tape. Furthermore, the video is being directed by Coodie & Chike and I can already sense an instant classic "Through The Wire" vibe (C&C's landmark Kanye video). Be on the lookout for the final product sooner than later, and scroll below the images for even more Lupe goodies...
J. Ivy on set with Lupe Fiasco
Bonus Lupe: his two most recent features! First, he linked up with Chicago rapper RondoNumberNine for the "Life of a Savage RMX". This one is a street anthem that channels an energetic Lupe. Second is Lupe on Robert Glasper's new album, Black Radio 2, alongside Snoop Dogg and Luke James (the singer who kills the hook) for one of the album's standout cuts "Persevere". Stream both very solid cuts below, with "Persevere" being my *Tibs Fav. pick of the two with Black Radio 2 a must-buy.

Want more insight into the themes of Lupe Fiasco's upcoming album, Tetsuo & Youth?
Lupe provided just that to RollingStone in a new piece I just caught from over the weekend. Here's a snippet:
"For some people it's gonna be a shock, because there are no politics on the record. Consciously, there are no politics on the record, if you want to hear my political spiel or some pseudo-intellectual Lupe, go listen to [2012's] Food & Liquor II. From here on out, I'm just making music."
Fiasco says that Tetsuo & Youth's lyrical content was partially inspired by his upbringing in Chicago's crime-ridden Westside: "The content of it is like, 'Oh, shit -- I didn't know Lupe could talk like that. I didn't know Lupe knew that guy. I didn't know Lupe was affiliated with that.'"
"Day one Lupe Fiasco fans, from 2003 or 2004, they're gonna get a lot of that back," he says."That's gonna be a surprise. You gotta have those five or so years to have that retrospective moment."
Plus, we get a better gauge on when the album will be released, which looks like it'll go into 2014 with the closing snippet pointing towards that. No complaints here. It looks like it'll be an irregular process to build up to the album, with Lupe's Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour set to start in November as Lupe will prefer to release some of these new tracks face to face. And isn't that a great thing, guys?!
Following the tour, he returns to the studio to record five to six more songs. "You're gonna feel this shit, trust me -- like, 'Oh shit, I can't believe Lupe did a record with that guy. And that guy. And that guy and that guy."
Earlier on Twitter today, Lupe Fiasco revealed one more nugget about the upcoming album, Tetsuo & Youth — a feature from Big K.R.I.T.
This should come as no surprise to followers of Lupe's (now private) Twitter account as Lu has consistently praised Big K.R.I.T. as the one rapper he's been listening to all summer. While we wait for this collab to come to fruition to the masses, let's run back the official first single: "Old School Love" featuring Ed Sheeran.
TDE (Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, & Kendrick Lamar)
Let's recap the week, shall we? There was a variety of new releases and this post will highlight the big names. We'll start it off with something that was much different than the others — #KendricksVerse. The chatter about Kendrick in the TDE Cypher at this week's BET Hip Hop Awards has largely been positive, as this becomes another piece of evidence for those who think K. Dot is the best rapper in the game right now. What do you all think? (Besides how glorious the high five is.)
That wasn't all this week: new singles by Eminem (the furious "Rap God"), Lupe Fiasco (the soothing "Old School Love" with Ed Sheeran), and even Akon (I'm predicting a comeback one with "So Blue"). Give them all a listen if you've slept, and peep the Category homepages for more dope picks in the Featured Entries (which will be updated Monday morning so catch it while you can.)
Everything in this post, oh by the way, is *Tibs Fav. status.
As promised, #TetsuoSeason turns a new chapter tonite with the release of Tetsuo & Youth's first single "Old School Love" featuring Ed Sheeran.
There's an instant heartwarming and analytical vibe to this one as Sheeran's slow and soothing vocals set the tone on the hook. Lupe brings the substance and delivers it with his usual flair of clever references. He doesn't go over your head with this one, and all things combined, I think not only the Lupe fan will enjoy but also the casual music fan.

Today via LupEND Lupe announced that he is going to be going on the road this coming November for his Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour. This tour is going to be in support of an unreleased album by Lupe called Tetsuo & Youth. The project will not be released until 2014 and has no official release date as of yet.
In another bit of news related to the tour, Chicago up and comer The Boy Illinois is going to be joining Lu on this cross country tour. Lupe recently showed his respect for Illi when he shouted him out on the song "Pound Of Flesh: Paris Tokyo 2". Below you can find a list of the tour dates, and tickets go on sale 10/4 via LupEND.
