Last week at New Era's downtown flagship store in Chicago, we sat down with Big Boijust before getting an exclusive listen to his upcoming album, 'Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors'!
In a collaborative video with our friends at Rap Genius, GY312 talks to Big Boi about how personal the album is to him - find out how the title is derived from the ATL emcee's grandma. We also get a genuine reaction from Big Boi about the creative GIF-style artwork for the album, the fun behind his bowling name (yup, Big Boi bowls in a league every Wednesday with his studio mates), and last but not least, a lyric from "In The A" is officially verified for Rap Genius. Catch the line in a slick graphic in the video and then hear the song for yourself here.
Lastly, catch a glimpse of the listening party itself with footage of the happenings at New Era, including a sneak peak at how the album monumentally starts off at the very end of the video. Other tracks to look out for: the fast-paced flows on the B.o.B collab "Shoes For Running", another Sleepy Brown feature that connects in "The Thickets", and (released earlier today) "She Hates Me" featuring Kid Cudi. The album has an impressive variety of sounds and I can't wait to sit down with it myself on December 11th.
One last shoutout to Rap Genius and GY312 as the groove maker just moved to NYC this weekend to build with RG. Follow 'em both closely for more major moves to come. Groove!
Earlier in the year, it was "Exodus 23:1," then it was his verse in "New God Flow," and now G.O.O.D. Music signee, Pusha T is at it again. In a recently leaked snippet of a new Ludacris track,"Tell Me What They Mad For," off of his new album, "Ludaversal," Pusha took some jabs at Lil Wayne and Birdman.
In a recent interview, he described that he has no personal beef with Young Money, explaining that he simply rides for his team, and will defend them til the end. But listening to what he had to say in the new Luda track, he seems to have gotten pretty personal. He never overtly mentions Wayne's name, but it's pretty clear who he's talking about. Here's what he had to say:
"With your baby mama f****in every rapper in the business
N****s saying you was better when the drugs was in your system
Now your crack swag gone ever since u came from prison
Got you tweeting all stupid, is you skatin’, is you dissin’
Found out your ghost leased and your phantom just rented
Won’t leave it in your name like Pac when he went missing
Makaveli lives on so I’m riding on you b*****s"
Am I the only one who thinks this beef is getting kind of old? Anyways, be on the lookout for "Ludaversal" to drop soon.
I'm back at it with my Top 5 Songs of The Week. This week is was pretty easy for me for some reason, I listened to all the songs and these 5 jumped out at me right away. So that being said lets get to the list.
I know I don't put these in any type of order but this song is my number one song of the week, and I might add it to next week's list just because it's that damn cold. Alicia and Maxwell are two of the most amazing singers of our generations and them together just furthered that belief for me.
The Boy Illinois is getting ready to release his next project 'The Memiors Of Gilbert Gaston' and he has two dope single leading up to that release in early December.
Big Boi did it again. So far from the songs that have dropped from Big Boi he has taken full advantage of the features he has. T.I. and Ludacris killed this, the beat is hard as hell, Big Boi did his things as usual, and he even added a thought provoking sample at the end. 'Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors' is going to NICE.
T.I. is a two time winner this week. It's hard to see any song with Andre 3000 on it not being in the top songs of the week, and I am not going to test that theory. T.I. spit a solid verse and 3k did something that he doesn't often do by letting us into his personal life when mentioning the apologizes to his mother, Big Boi, and "Baby Mother".
The Dream to me is real hit or miss. I really liked his first album but hated his second. This song reminds me of the music from his first album so I'm hoping this album will continue down this path and be a hit overall.
So that's this weeks list from me hope you all enjoy. Always feel free to comment with your thoughts and opinions. Til next week, two fingers to the side(that's peace to you don't get it).
