Since my last few post have been from the New York area I figured I keep it that way. Dating back to one of my first interviews which included Kris Kasanova I came up on his mixtape =War Paint=. It's funny how I came to know of him. I was actually on my way to go see stalley perform in Brooklyn & Kris was one of the opening acts. Before I went to the show I did my home work on Kasanova & found my self a gem. Real New York rap, the type of hip hop that's makes you think about the old days. I give the man respect for staying real with him self & where he comes from. Being that he is from Brooklyn there's always pressure due to all the greats that have come out & made such a big impact to the rap game. I have no doubt in my mind that this young MC will be on the rise to keep Brooklyn on the map. Make sure you get a chance to download & listen this mixtape it's well worth it.
A few nights ago, GowhereNY was at attendance for Karmaloop's event at Dominion with Maybach Music Group artist Stalley headlining. The event was also a showcase for a few other emerging hip hop artists. One of them being Kris Kasanova. Kris was cool enough to meet with us after his performance and speak with GowhereNY's PlacDos for an interview. Here's the experience through his point of view.
"Being that I was born & raised in NY I know what it is to grow up listening to hip hop. It’s been around me ever since I was in Osh Kosh overalls." That night at the Dominion, the essence of hip hop was definitely felt. As one of the performers named Kris Kasanova got on stage, the pressure was on. The crowd was already a bit restless due to the wait. Once the beat dropped for his single "War Paint" off his mixtape called War Paint the crowds vibe switched up. Heads started bopping & with that he caught the crowds attention. Being a Brooklyn native, Kris Kasanova knows how it is to perform in front of a NY audience. We’ve had so many great artist come from NY so the expectations are always high. That didn’t stop him from entertaining first time listeners. Hearing from people in the crowd commenting on his lyrics & flow, I heard nothing but good reviews. I stumbled upon Kris Kasanova threw a XXL magazine review where he talked a little about himself and what he’s been working on. That’s when I looked up his mixtape War Paint & heard a couple of tracks off it. Oh Lord is one of his singles on his mixtape and my personal favorite. We chopped it up and went further in to details on what inspired him to create that track. So check out our show footage and my interview with him above. Also don’t forget to check out his mixtape, War Paint!
