Anyone who knows me knows that 2 Chainz’s music is my guilty pleasure. So I’m very excited about his new album B.O.A.T.S II: MEtime, which will hit stores September 10th. Today the 2 Chainz has released the official album cover literally featuring two chains. It’s very simple, yet straight to the point and appropriate. The album artwork is designed by Kanye West’s company DONDA, who also designed the packing for 2 Chainz’s first album, Based On a T.R.U. Story.
Some guy named Kanye West on stage with some guy named Drake
The hip hop capital for tonight is north of the border in Toronto, Canada as Drake brought out an all-star list of artists for the first night of his annual hometown show. Among them: Kanye West, his G.O.O.D. Music brother Big Sean, The Weeknd (they hugged it out during "Crew Love" below), Miguel, A$AP Rocky, TLC, Lil Wayne, Diddy, Ma$e, J. Cole, French Montana, and Wale, with James Blake as the opening act. Remind me I got to fly out to Toronto for next year.
Nothing can truly encapsulate what I'd imagine the environment was like tonight, but here's a glimpse at that with a few #InstaVideos below (oh, technology.)

And this is how MTV hilariously announced it. Bravo. I have never once not laughed at the thought of croissants since Yeezus came out last June.
'Ye will be performing "Black Skinhead" (via Pitchfork) as he joins Lady Gaga as one of the VMA headliners as she'll be debuting her new single "Applause". Should be an entertaining night to say the least on August 25th.
Kanye West, with his late mother Donda, at the Grammys in 2007
Here's a great story of Kanye West looking out for his hometown. Today he launches the "Got Bars?" music program for at-risk youth — a partnership between his Donda’s House nonprofit organization and the ARK of St. Sabina community center. Starting next month, a 10-week music program will start for at-risk teens and young adults ages 15-24, focusing on writing and production, and directed by none other than close friend and collaborator over the years: Rhymefest (with his wife Donnie).
"I am so happy to launch ‘Got Bars?’ to honor Kanye West’s mother’s memory and to fulfill one of my Aldermanic campaign goals. ‘Got Bars?’ will change our youth musically, get them healthy and keep them busy in a creative, peaceful environment. I know it will be an even stronger program because of our partnership with the ARK of St. Sabina."
And Kanye West:
"My mom spent her life as an educator and I am happy that Donda’s House can pick up her torch and honor her life’s mission."
The application date is August 2nd and you can fill one out at DondasHouse.com.
You may remember the incident last week, captured in the video above, where Kanye got into a physical altercation with a paparazzi photographer (they're all starting to run together, I know). Well, the photographer is trying to press charges after he was "injured" during the scuffle. Kanye's lawyers don't like the sound of that, so are looking to settle out of court with the guy instead, which is probably going to result in a very nice payday for him. A notice to people of the world: you, yes you, can (essentially) get paid to harass Kanye West! I'm sensing a career opportunity here if this writing thing doesn't pan out.
Here's a funny video to add to your fun Friday courtesy of Stephen Colbert. On a new Colbert Report, he dedicated a segment to roast Kanye West's new collab with A.P.C. — more specifically the "Hip Hop T-Shirt", which is just a long white tee priced at $120. The ensuing Colbert Yard Sale is pretty clever so have a good laugh above. On the real though, I may need to get me a pair of those Kanye x A.P.C. jeans. Simple and fresh.
Long time no see, old duo Consequence and Ye on a track again. Not exactly something new because Kanye's verse is the same as the original, but Cons decided to put his take on Ye's hit "Black Skinhead". Could this be a prelude to more music from the two lyricists? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
