Last night, Kanye West was in the Barclays Center for the second straight date and he went on another long "rant" that addresses all the current topics he's been talking about in recent interviews. In this rant, he mentions Nike CEO Mark Parker, which adds fuel to the fire that this new deal he signed a week and a half ago in the interview with Philly's Hot 107 is sneaker-related.
"They tried to make it as small as possible. Mark Parker even talked sh--, talking about, 'We don't even know why people like the Yeezys,' " he shouted. "They like 'em like they like the Jordans, because I was in fourth grade getting kicked out for drawing Jordans."

Speculation is abound that Kanye will be working with Yohji Yamamoto and the adidas Y-3 brand and that the line will be called "Yeezi". There has been no official announcement, but there are many sites with word of this rumor (like a KicksOnFire or Modern Notoriety). If this proves to be true, I feel like it could really shake up the culture because of the sheer influence and interconnectedness of hip hop, sneakers, and Kanye West. And as a fan of the adidas Y-3 brand and designs, I'd be elated if 'Ye was to work with them. It seems like a great fit on paper and would be something so fresh and atypical to the game that I can see a potential collab being very successful. Time will only tell, but considering that 'Ye says himself he has a new deal, I think we'll find out sooner than later.
Last night was a special night of television. It is anytime that David Blaine takes over with a brand new special because on one hand, these aren't even a yearly occurence and on the other hand David Blaine might be a completely different species.
And let's just say I throughly enjoyed replicating the celebrity reactions like that of Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul, Katy Perry, Jason Sudekis & Olivia Wilde, Will, Jada Pinkett, Jaden, and Willow Smith... and even Kanye West and Woody Harrelson.
Kanye & Woddy + the Smiths can be seen above as Blaine kicked off the special by sticking an ice pick through his hand and drawing no blood. Everyone's reaction is great, but somehow not as great as this...
More highlights can be seen on Grantland via Rembert, who made the same connection to the "#AzizThesis" (his hashtag) as I had while watching the special. Cool tricks, outrageous reactions, and even stonefaced David Blaine post-trick are all absolutely phenomenal. Hope you caught it, or you can watch it in full on this stream.
There goes Kanye, getting everyone talking again. He headlines an early-week recap with the new video for "Bound 2" premiering on Ellen earlier today, starring his fiance Kim Kardashian topless, and shattering everyone's vision of what the music video was going to look like after those epic TV performances. Yours truly too. While there's elements I like about the music video, I need more Charlie and the aesthetic from the performances. Drop a comment with your thoughts on one of the most polarizing videos of 2013.
UPDATE: "Full uncensored" version. Not sure what else is different except a touch more skin from Kim, but, um, enjoy?!
As promised, the new "Bound 2" video! KimYe take to the Grand Canyon for this Nick Knight-directed visual on the Yeezus fan favorite. As premiered on Ellen.
I'm not that high on the video though, in fact. The green screen effect could have been more effective if it was juxtaposed with something completely different. Furthermore, and I didn't know there was such a thing, but it felt like there was too much of Kim. After the video started, I was hoping for more variety of scenes and I think that would be my solution to enhance the concept. Overall, my favorite part was the closing Charlie Wilson chorus. Per usual with 'Ye, the reaction this morning has been polarizing; chime in with your thoughts as well @gowherehiphop.
PLUS, here's Kanye's interview with Ellen. He had romantic things about to say on his fiance Kim:
“She’s a person that, when I was at my lowest moments, I could get on the phone with her and she would make me feel like I was here for a reason and I had something to say… It’s incredible to have a woman like that that you know is not using you for money.”
And more on DONDA collaboration (less about "I" now):
“God gave me everything that I wanted, and I wanna take a piece of that joy that I’m feeling and give it back to the people who have helped make that happen for me.”
Kanye West is in Philly for the Yeezus Tour now and spoke with Hot 107.9 on a variety of topics in this in-depth three-part interview. Amongst them is being comfortable talking about himself as a "creative genius" and having that creative freedom he's long been desiring. Plus, he goes into more detail about his parents — his photographer/psychology major father and of course, his professor mother Donda. Another great interview to peep on top of his visit to Boston yesterday (below).
UPDATE: Kanye and Kim are normal people too! They were photographed enjoying a meal at Wendy's last night. I'd like to think that 'Ye is saavy enough to mix and match for a Chocolate-Cookie Dough Frosty.
UPDATE 2: The last video below is Kanye naming his favorite artist (James Blake) at the 4:20 mark, and talking shoes. Hey, some new topics!
Kanye West, along with his DONDA associate and most recently #BeenTrill# designer (+ architect) Virgil Abloh, gave Harvard design grad students a treat today by giving an empowering speech about the possibilities and power of design. We're only able to get a sense of it via the video here (UPDATE: PLUS, below), but I did take out a few quotes from it below.
But I just wanted to tell you guys: I really do believe that the world can be saved through design, and everything needs to actually be “architected.” And this is the reason why even some of the first DONDA employees were architects that started designing t-shirts instead of buildings. But just to see the work actually be actualized.

As an architecture undergraduate myself, I can only appreciate this even more having the first-hand experience of seeing design and creativity come to fruition. I can't help but nod my head to what Kanye says here and only wish to hear more from 'Ye & Virgil on this topic.
UPDATE 2: Kanye delievered a new "rant" at the concert later that night (where he gave everyone above free tickets). As you may guess, he touches on creativity — perhaps stemming from earlier that day.
Thank you, SNL for showing us that we need a Kanye West / Kim Kardashian talk show in our lives. Props to Jay Pharoah for another on point impression. The show's host, Lady Gaga, also appears in the sketch. Watch and enjoy ICYMI.
