Issue No. 2 happened about 30 minutes before the show started. Most of the guests were seated, comprised of high-level execs primarily from Disney and the Boys and Girls Club. I didn’t know most of the people present, but one of the higher-level faces I did recognize approached me concerned. He asked me about which seats were taken and if we could get more. Nervous about shutting down someone that could get me fired, I played it safe and tried to dodge the awkward responsibility of assigning seats. He whispered softly, “Kanye West is here and I don’t know where to seat him.” [...]
So Kanye walks in with no entourage, just a couple of people, and now I’m thinking he’s either here because he was at the wedding rehearsal for Carmelo Anthony and LaLa, or he was the Chicago representative picked to show out when LeBron chose the Bulls. To this day, I’m still not sure why he was in the building.
I spend the first 15 minutes or so honed in on ‘Ye’s every move. He seems chill, he’s wearing his glasses indoors, and he’s not making sudden moves. I forget he’s there until one of the camera operators says, “I think Kanye West fell asleep.”
At the biggest non-sporting sports event in a while, Kanye West fell asleep before anyone announced anything. He was doing the church/school head nod and everything. Wake up, Mr. West.
He would eventually wake up and leave well before The Decision ended.
'Ye must've got an advanced headsup that LeBron wasn't comin' to Chicago. 'Ye living up to 'The College Dropout', huh?
UPDATE: Kanye addresses yesterday leak on Twitter below.
07.08.13: In typical Kanye incognito fashion, he drops the video for "Black Skinhead" today via a link to his website above. I'm actually having trouble playing it there, but apparently it's produced video-game style. I like the sounds of that. Try your luck above!
For those interested in Kanye West's next move, it looks like it's back to fashion. He teases everyone to a new line of jeans in collaboration with Jean Touitou by redesigning kanyewest.com to just feature the detailed picture above.
One more Kanye tidbit: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak spoke to ABC about 'Ye's signed Apple mouses by him and his late co-founder Steve Jobs (nice gift, Kim K). Here's a few of the quotes, and a look at the gift below:
"I signed the mouse in front of him. It's really rare, both our signatures in matching form."
"It was an excellent conversation for about two hours and he finally got into his grandiose business ideas. I have some comments to give him. I have been thinking about it since the meeting."
"Visualize yourself in a certain way [and you can accomplish anything]."

UPDATE: Four-Pins has put together an "Everything We Know About" Kanye x A.P.C. jeans that are dropping next week, July 14th.
Well, I'm sure no one saw this coming. Frequent Kanye collaborator and producer on the original "Watch The Throne" has confirmed via Twitter that Watch The Throne 2 is a thing that will exist sometime in the near future. 'Ye and Jay have basically been at the top since the first one came out, I guess they're afraid of losing that number one spot and need to keep the attention up. Either that or they are scrambling to build some trust funds for the baby girls each of them just had. Smart move on their part; college is expensive these days.
The early estimate for 1st week album sales dating at June 18th are in, via HDD (Billboard's official numbers tomorrow). This was hip hop's biggest week of 2013 so far, and to no one's real surprise, Kanye West Yeezus takes the #1 spot. 328K with no radio single or traditional album push (and the leak on the Friday before certainly held those numbers back). Right on 'Ye's heels is J. Cole with an impressive 297K sold and in a distant third, but with a respectable 101K, Mac Miller. What do you guys think of the first week sales?
Continuing their unprecedented coverage of Kanye's latest masterpiece "Yeezus," today Pitchfork released an article detailing the process of recording the album from the viewpoints of several of the colaborators. Justin Vernon, Travi$ Scott, Noah Goldstein and others who worked on the album talked to Pitchfork about what it was like working with Kanye and some details about the recording process that we would otherwise have to find out about on a VH1 special or something.
Among the highlights are Travi$ Scott's anecdote about going from "pretty much homeless" to becoming friends with Will Smith within 24 hours ("I was playing Will my album, he fucks with it"). Also made clear is the fact that recording in Paris with 'Ye leaves little time for partying, as one might assume. Said Bon Iver's Justin Vernon: "There's no pedestrian fuckery on this album."
Perhaps the most surprising tidbit is that TNGHT's Hudson Mohawke almost died while in the process of recording the album, the result of "a few silly nights and [overdoing] it with various things," in his words. He was actually resuscitated and spent a week in intensive care, an experience which motivated him to continue his work. Sounds like an experience to which Kanye can relate.
The 'Red October' Air Yeezy 2s — perhaps the most anticipated shoe release for the rest of 2013. And Kanye's giving 'em away to lucky fans who purchase his new album, Yeezus.
The gist: Starting tomorrow, simply purchase Yeezus in-stores or on iTunes, OR send an email to email@example.com to receive an access code. It looks like you can just e-mail them for the access code. 'Ye has a limited amount: 50 pairs that he'll be giving away in 3 weekly drawings. For the full details: giveaway.kanyewest.com.
Let's just say if the Bulls were in 4th quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals (like we are at posting time), I would not take the time out to make a post that Kanye & Kim named their baby a direction. North West. TMZ reports. Twitter to joke... after the game.
Yeezus and Arrested Development fans, this post is for you. Courtesy of the creatives over at Entertainment Weekly comes a fun quiz that sounds ridiculous on the surface, but is actually quite funny once you dive into the questions below. Is it a Yeezus lyric by Kanye West OR a quote from Lucille Bluth? Ha! Can't wait to finish up the new season of Arrested, it's been hilarious so far. Anyway, here are the questions:
1. “They ordered champagne, but still look thirsty.”
2. “I’ll be out on parole by the time you work up a tear.”
3. “That coat cost more than your house!”
4. “You remember where we first met? Okay, I don’t remember where we first met.”
5. “Everybody wants to live at the top of the mountain.”
6. “If I don’t get run out by Catholics, here come some conservative Baptists.”
7. “Where’s my maid? ROBOT!”
8. “You love me when I’m hungover.”
9. “Who let that black [bleep] in?”
10. “A sea of waiters, and no one will take a drink order.”
11. “Go and grab the reporters so I can smash their recorders.”
12. “I’d rather be dead in California than alive in Arizona.”
