Is it me or is the promo for 20/20 Experience Pt. 2 severely lacking when compared to Pt. 1? Albeit, the first album was JT's return to music after 7 years, but for this second album/part, we've only seen one video for "Take Back The Night" and the second single "TKO" just this week. The album drops on the 30th, oh by the way. That's fine for JT though because he'll still sell a ton of music and everyone's going to want it.
The next teaser of the album was seen last night when JT closed out the iHeartRadio festival in Vegas and in the midst of performing new singles and old, he premiered two new tracks: "True Blood" and "Only When I Walk Away". Watch and see in the video above.
Finally we get another preview of The 20/20 Experience Pt. 2 with the album set for release in just less than 2 weeks. It's another Timbaland produced potential hit as JT puts down a catchy hook on "TKO" with smooth vocals throughout. I'm not sure about the Timbaland "She killed me with that coochie, cooch.." intro but everything else about this track is great. It's 7 minutes long so you know to expect a cool breakdown from Timbo and that's just what happened. Hey, if it's not broke, don't fix it, right? An easy *Tibs Fav. but we'll see how long this lasts in the roto.
JT & Jimmy Fallon are back at it again. The "Evolution of" series continues, but diverges from classic hip hop toward... Touchdown dancing! This is exciting with the NFL underway and pretty much all touchdown dances being awesome. JT & Jimmy deliver on a series of classic dances like the Icky Shuffle and the Dirty Bird and then a ton that are just fantastic made-up TD dances. I really hope this inspires Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery to do a slow-mo chest bump on Sunday (tweet them this link, guys!).
Fresh off the heels of Big Sean's "You Don't Know", of which Ellie is sampled in what may be the sample of the year (I love that song), is another reason to check out Ellie Goulding. She stopped by the BBC studios to record her fresh take and cover of Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors". Fans of any of the above subjects will surely enjoy the raw video and audio of this in-studio experience. As a fan of all of the above, I certainly did.
Ladies and gents, hope you enjoyed your long Labor Day Weekend if you're a United States reader. Even though it was a slow weekend in quanity, there were still a lot of big and noteworthy new releases.
Beginning with the return of Lil Wayne with the Dedication series as he dropped 29 new tracks in the 5th installment, with one standout collab earning a lot of chatter around Chicago and across the interwebs — "You Song" featuring Chance The Rapper.
