Chicago's own Kid Slim is releasing his "Finally Here" EP on January 1st. The Basketball star / Rapper is also going on his first headlining tour "Finally Here Tour"! It kicks off at The Loft in Michigan State on January 4th, and more tour dates are being added everyday. More info can be found at thatslimkid.com. After shooting his last performance here in Phoenix, I was impressed. Follow Kid Slim @OfficialKidSlim. Above is Kid Slim's interview with #GowherePHX's Julian On The Radio and his new video "Stay".
The Tetsuo & Youth Preview Tour was an outstanding event. The tour's Phoenix stop was packed with fans the other night and Lupe Fiasco's performance was nothing short of grand. He performed too many new songs to count and every each one sounded great! Lupe's stage presence and on stage visuals made his performance pop and dazzle. His participation with the crowd was classy and hilarious as girls decided to become scantily clad and show off upper body parts to the superstar rapper. The tour is more than worth the price of admission. Tickets for the remaining dates are available here.
Check out the video for scenes from the tour and our interview with Lupe as he talks to Julian On The Radio about what fans can expect in the show, copy/paste hip hop journalism, why he doesn't listen to hip hop, and what's left to do for Tetsuo & Youth the album coming in early 2014.
I had the chance to catch up with the homies Krewella when they were getting set to rock the house at Maya Day & NightClub. The entire club was slammed body to body on an incredible Sunday afternoon. It was my first time experiencing the venue and it was nothing short of amazing. The ladies actually remembered me from back in Chicago! We go back from the club days.
Sidenote: I'd do asian carryout for Jahan and Yasmine any day of the week. In person, they are stunning ...even if they haven't showered lol!
Our own Julian On The Radio is now in Phoenix! He just started this week, hosting afternoons for 104.7 Kiss FM from 4p-9p. You can listen live here.
Even though our beloved correspondent is no longer in Chicago, he'll now be spearheading a #GowherePHX team since he's settled out there now. So if you're reading this in the AZ sun, we're looking for a video and promo team to go with Julian on site at events and at the radio station as Julian conducts interviews with all the big national acts that come through town. We want to continue to do video interviews and pieces like the example with Logic below.
Please send info about yourself and links to your work to Julian & Tibs at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get back to you about forming the team soon!
For those reading, interested in joining the team, but NOT in Phoenix — we are accepting blogging interns for the remainder of the summer. Also e-mail email@example.com.
A longtime Chicago media staple, and one of our own freelance correspondents, Julian On Da Radio just dropped a big thank you and announcement for what lies ahead for his career. His stint with B96 as 1/2 of the morning show with J Niice has ended and he produced this video above as first and foremost, a thank you to Chicago and the opportunity it has brought him throughout the years the D.C. native has been on the radio here. Gotta love the heartfelt and sincere gratitude Julian delivers in the video, while also displaying what makes him and his personality so fun throughout. Really, just press play and you'll find out in the first few seconds.
As Julian says, the journey will go on and so be sure to keep it locked here on GWHH and julianontheradio.com for Julian's next big announcement is coming up in the near future...
And on behalf of all Chicago, thank YOU Julian for being that iconic voice on the B96 Morning Show and all the events, interviews, and just fun and positive energy that you've spread across everyone along the way!
We bring you another exclusive interview with the host of the Help Me Help Haiti benefit event: Julian (Of B96 Chicago). We discussed a variety of topics including advice for upcoming DJs and radio personalities, how Julian came to B96 and Chicago all the way from D.C., a little bit about some of the current mainstream music, and where things are moving in the industry. It was particularly inspiring to hear Julian’s story of how he came to Chicago not knowing anybody to get where he is today – a longtime mainstay at one of Chicago’s biggest radio stations. Julian definitely dropped some knowledge on us, so peep above to get a bit more accustomed to the guy you hear every morning on B96 from 5:30 – 9am. We wish him nothin’ but continued success.
Down below, we have an amazing gallery of photos to behold featuring Julian, event organizer Jen DeLeon, and performers like LA & Mr. Music, S-Preme, Teron James, Nonamus and much more! Also don’t miss the dope video recap of the event below, which we were thrilled to be a part of. For more on Help Me Help Haiti, visit JenDeLeon.com and for more on Mclaren Soriano Photography visit mclarensoriano.daportfolio.com as well as video production by Unscene Media. Keep it locked for more performance footage throughout the week. Enjoy!
