Have you all heard the news? Chicago Hip-Hop is rapid rising in popularity and a part of that is phenomenal collaborations like these. Producers THEMPeople enlist Via Rosa, Joey Purps, Tokyo Shawn, Nico Segal and Kamie de Chukwu to the first single"Reports", off the upcoming Smoke Breaks 4.
A few backs, Kami & Purp announced a collaboration project between the two of them under the alias of Leather Corduroys and dropped the dark, jazzy track "Prophet" featuring theMIND of THEMpeople (who also produced the cut) to set the news in stone. Since then though, they've kept things pretty much under wraps.... until now.
Leather Cords just broke work about a new event series called The Antidote that they'll be headlining the 1st go around. A hybrid of the public market, art fair, and concert, The Antidote puts on display the best emerging talents & visionaries in the Chicago art & tech scenes while creating a platform to support small businesses and independent creatives through dialogue, community, and commerce. Basically it's a completely new & different way to discover new artists, brands, non-profits, designers, apps & more all in one night out.
Also performing that night will be Stay Gold (Sir Devin Hudson x Bengfang), DJ 20 Minutes andthe up & comer Ki†. Rumor has it that there will also be a Dope.Boy.Magic pop-up shop as one of the dozen or so local vendors on display as well as a few surprises that The Antidote team is keeping under wraps. On top of that, the flyer is too cool (and free drinks never sound bad). Check back for more details & updates leading up to the event.
The Antidote Presents: New (S)Cool featuring: Leather Corduroys, Stay Gold, DJ 20 Minutes & Kit.
Date: Saturday, September 14, 2013. 7PM-11PM
Where: BLUE1647 / 1647 S. Blue Island

SaveMoney is literally everywhere. If you haven't seen the sticker or the graffiti tag somewhere around the city, you've probably seen them all over the country or all over the INNANET. It seems like the takeover isn't showing any signs of slowing down as the team releases something almost every week. Today, Dally Auston & Joey Purple team up over an eerie OnGaud produced track. Both artists do their thing, and shouts out to OnGaud who are also plotting their own takeover with recent hits for other SaveMoney artists as well as other local Chicago emcees.
"The Loud Live Series" took place at Leaders 1354 last week in Chicago and the jam-packed boutique was treated to performances from Chance The Rapper, eGo, the Save Money Crew with Joey Purps, Kami de Chukwu, Thelonious (who was celebrating his birthday), Lili K and Peter Cottontail, Caleb James, and a DJ set by the Nordjs (Tima Fei and Ivan Cirkovic). Plus, the event was hosted by Add-2 and the people in attendance received a free, exclusive LDRS x SAE tee, and the Loud Chicago Sounds compilation album. Peep the photos above to catch what you may have missed and shouts to everyone who put it together - Leaders 1354, SAE Institute Chicago, and Honest Tea.
