The Instagram photos/chatter of Twitter late tonight surrounds hip hop's royal couple. They're not related though, as first, Jay Z is pictured above with former Roc-A-Fella partner Dame Dash as the two attended a mutual friend's birthday party in NYC. The two photos (via Dame himself on IG and Shaheem Reid) show the two as ole chums. It looks like things between the two are calm and bygones are bygones.
You don't remember our handshake?!
The other chatter surrounds ladies everywhere reacting to Beyonce's new look! If you're slow to the social media tonight, we got you covered with a couple of Bey's Instagrams revealing her short hair. It's cool, but long, lioness haired Beyonce will always be my fave.
Queen Bey is curious to know what you think of her new look
Yep, Drake dropped a new single this morning. Because being the talk of the music world with his OVO Fest and numerous artist friends making appearances (like Kanye West) wasn't enough. Hey, no complaints here. I like the smooth new single that should be all over your radios as we head into Nothing Was The Same next month. See our own Jodeci's thoughts and weigh in with your own here.
Last night Beyoncé wrapped up the 1st leg to her sold out world tour The Mrs. Carter Show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and surprise, surprise she brought out Mr. Carter himself, Jay Z. Although it was a given that he was to come out on the last show it was the song that took everyone by surprise. Treating the audience to a special performance of “Bow Down,” Beyoncé took fans by surprise when the beat dropped to Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” and he appeared on stage. Fans were sent into a frenzy roaring with excitement. I swear I would have killed to be at this show! But any who if you didn’t catch Beyoncé this go round no worries! She has extended her tour with more dates that you can check here! Check the Carters below!
Modern day Pablo? If you didn't think so before, now you will.
Jay Z premiered his performance art piece for "Picasso Baby" last night, directed by Mark Romanek — a never before seen take on a traditional music video with Jay performing the song for 6 hours at a museum in New York to create the final product.
To see the final product now, it illustrates truly how extraordinary the somewhat ordinary concept sounded like on paper. It was hard to envision Jay performing the same song 6 hours in the same space. What are they going to do differently for that long?
Well, it's the people that make this video. Jay performs the song to seemingly every individual in the building one-on-one. And every individual is just that... an individual. There are so many authentic and different personalities on display that the energy and interaction between Jay and them feels so real... and surreal. It's Jay Z with your everyday artist, dancer, or Judd Apatow or Rosie Perez, ha!
Needless to say, this a must-see as I marveled at this on first watch. I really appreciate the #newrules and new creative ideas for this art piece that is truly innovational. Props, Hov! (I know you're reading this.) *TIBS FAV.
Also last night, Jay's interview with Bill Maher. Amongst the topics discussed: the new album, Harry Belafonte's criticism, wanting to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and more.
This morning on Big Boy's Neighborhood, Jay Z revealed a lot of details from topic to topic. Amongst them is the headline that he'll be appearing on Justin Timberlake's part 2 of The 20/20 Experience come September. Also tune in to hear Jay reveal another JT collab — the video for "Holy Grail" — and more like Watch The Throne 2, Kanye's Kris Humphries line last year, and the #LOTS Tour.
