Pretty soon, these 3 will be more than photoshopped together... they'll be on the same record!
In a new interview with BBC's Charlie Sloth, a slightly reluctant J. Cole revealed a new collab to expect on the upcoming album, Born Sinner, and that's one with TLC! Given the latter's new return to music, this song will instantly be one to check for come June 18th. In addition, J. Cole added "It's crazy. No one's rapping on the album." OK, I like that, J. As Charlie said, I agree that he can carry the album by himself. One more fun topic of convo in the interview (listen in full below, spotted at Vibe): Paris Hilton signing to Cash Money. Cole's reaction was priceless: "It's awesome... It's just gonna make for great jokes and great entertainment." Ha!
UPDATE: Peter Rosenberg drops another piece of insight, saying that J. Cole disappointed Nas and wrote a song about it for the album. This... is also intriguing.
Once again, Born Sinner drops June 18th, and ICYMI the other night, watch J. Cole's impressive performance of "Power Trip" with The Roots LIVE on Fallon.
UPDATE 2: A new interview with Fuse below talking about how J. Cole linked up with TLC.
Last night Jimmy Fallon had a fun lineup that not only featured J. Cole, but a GWHH-fav. Aziz Ansari as the lead guest. I ended up catching the whole show to see both and to kick it off, I must say I was impressed by Cole's performance of Born Sinner's lead single "Power Trip". He delivered the rhymes with the same pace and clarity as in the studio and I'd imagine it was an easy-to-follow first listen for anyone who turned on Fallon and is not up on J. Cole's latest. Plus, did you catch his little acknowledgement to the late Chris Kelly in his Kris Kross reference? Job well-done with The Roots playing the music behind him and a recording of Miguel in place for the hook (shouts to yardie on the rip).
In other J. Cole news, he delivered an interesting quote to Billboard yesterday regarding the reasoning behind moving up his album to June 18th. The answer, as you correctly assumed, was to compete with Kanye. Very logical reasoning. He won't win #1, but he will get a lot of extra looks when Yeezus is next to Born Sinner on the shelves. How bout that for contrasting album title names? Ha!
“Instantly the lightbulb [turned on]… it got real. I made one phone call to somebody that would know, just to make sure first. As soon as I got it confirmed, I was like, ‘Yo…’ The idea hit me instantly: ‘You got to go to that date’. I’m not going to sit [here]… I worked too hard to come a week later after Kanye West drops an amazing album. It’d be like, ‘Oh and J.Cole dropped too, a week later.’ Nah. I’m going to go see him on that date. He’s the greatest. So it’s like, I’m a competitor by nature so it was instant, it wasn’t even a thought.”
“It’s a definite statement about how I feel about my album, which is confident. At the same time, let’s not forget this is Kanye West. He bets 100, 1,000, whatever the perfect is. His track record is flawless. I’m only expecting an incredible album from him. But I know what I have.”

Here's the aforementioned Aziz getting over NYC late nights and telling relatable texting stories, hah!
Not only does J. Cole reveal the artwork to the upcoming album, Born Sinner, he also confirms the June 18th push-up of the release date. Lookin' forward to the next month or so to hear how else he'll preview the album.
Related: while surfing tumblr, I found this awesome GIF/quote from J. Cole — which can hopefully act as a nice motivator for this Monday!
J. Cole ponders pushing up his album to possibly compete with Kanye West's
June 18th may sound like an ordinary date, and not too newsworthy, as Born Sinner was slated for a June 25th release. But the well-informed know that June 18th marks as the cryptic date that Kanye West may or may not release his album (or at least new music). Hopefully 'Ye does drop his album on that date (to go along with Mac Miller's) for the common scenario that hip hop fans going to be one album, will be tempted to just buy both (or all three).
A source close to THR says that "J.[Cole] has been working nonstop to put out his album a week earlier—living in the studio, bringing in full orchestras and a choir."
"Power Trip" is currently #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and will likely continue to rise. I think the time is right for Born Sinner — what about you?
Exciting news for TLC fans! Chilli & T-Boz are planning new collabs with Drake, Ne-Yo, & J. Cole as they told Entertainment Weekly they're all planning on going to the studio. The music will likely coincide with the release of their summer biopic on VH1 — starring Drew Sidora, Keke Palmer, & Lil Mama as TLC — Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story. Plus, TLC will be performing on July 27th as part of the two-day Mixtape Festival in Hershey, PA. Lots of great tidbits and, I think it's safe to say that many of us will lend an ear to new TLC this summer!
"Everybody has shown us love. Not one person has said 'No,' and that’s amazing. So we’re just going to go in and demo and demo and figure it out. I talked to Dallas [Austin] today, we’re Skyping to see if I want to do this song that he has. I just left the studio last night. I go in again tomorrow."
"Kenny Lofton", one of my all-time favorite players growing up, is also the name of the other trending track off J. Cole's Truly Yours 2 EP. It features Young Jeezy and features a soulful beat from Canei Finch. Some solid rhymes from Cole especially. What do you all think?
One of the two trending tracks off J. Cole's new Truly Yours 2 EP. I was wondering why "Chris Tucker" was trending — I was hoping it was confirmed news of a Rush Hour 4 but a new track from J. Cole will do.
J. Cole delivers on some new music tonight as well — not on the upcoming album, Born Sinner, but presumably off the Truly Yours 2 EP dropping in full tomorrow, which will be filled with unreleased tracks to hold us over til June 25th.
Newcomer Alexis Jordan is a signee to the StarRoc label founded by Jay-Z & Norwegian producer duo StarGate (longtime fan here... you'll be surprised how many hits they've produced over the years...).
This is her new single "Acid Rain" - a catchy, uptempo record featuring 2 new verses from J. Cole. What do you all think?
