Newly signed Def Jam artist Iggy Azalea releases her first record with the label "Bounce". As one of the leading ladies of the hip-hop today, Def Jam made a great choice signing the Austrailian born rapper.
If you weren't watching the Showtime season finales of Dexter and Homeland (guilty for Dexter) or the 49ers/Patriots Sunday night, then you were probably checking out VH1 Divas. If you were in the former group (or, you know, not watching TV at all), then check out a couple of the performances you missed with a tribute to Whitney Houston above featuring Jordin Sparks, Melanie Fiona, and Ledisi - and then a tribute to Donna Summer by Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson, and Adam Lambert below. The last video is Ciara, performing a little MJ and her new single "Got Me Good". For more, including Iggy Azalea, Kelly Clarkson, and Pitbull, visit VH1.com.
Brandy,Iggy Azalea (who's album has yet to be released), & keri Hilson were just added to the Vh1 Divas lineup of performers for the 2012 show. The show, which saw a revival a few years ago, started in the 90's with Divas of music headlining the show like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige and Aretha Franklin. Other performers & presenters for this year's festivities are to be Ledisi, Ciara, MileyCyrus, DemiLevato, KellyRowland, & JordinSparks. The addition of upcoming star Iggy Azalea and the Grammy nominated Keri Hilson, whose debut album was certified a successful Gold plaque, will surely attract viewers to the iconic Vh1 event.
So as promised I'm back again with my top 5 songs from the past week, and just so that we are all clear I going from Monday to Monday and posting on Tuesday. Like I said before these aren't in any type of order they are just tracks that I feel you all should give a second listen. So let's jump into this week's tracks.
If the first wasn't cold enough Ye comes back and makes it even better. What I liked most about this song though was that I got more of a College Dropout/Late Registration vibe from him and I feel that's what a lot of Kanye fans are looking for.
Even though the track was pretty short it still managed to accomplish everything you could want from a song. The production was dope and the verse strong from start to finish. (Sorry for chopping off the left side of the image this one was shaped a little different.)
The song by its self was dope already so adding a Kanye verse to it was like Donald Trump winning the lottery. Not a big fan on RiRi but this song I rock with.
If you don't smoke or drink but want to get an idea for the type of zone it puts you in, turn the lights down and turn this song up. Wiz and Juicy J made all of the stoners around the world proud with this one. I hope me posting this doesn't say too much about me.
So that's this week's "Top 5", if you have any comments please feel free to voice them. See yall next week.
Tonight's studio session update via Twitter comes from Iggy Azalea, as she states she's working on a track with not only Chicago singer Jeremih, but also producer FKi. Just before this, she also instagram'd a photo of her and Mickey Factz (below) and this warrants mentioning because FKi is a frequent collaborator with Factz. Would love to hear a track between all four of these artists, but it looks as for now it's Iggy & Jeremih with FKi on the production.
In case you missed it, check out srirachana's review of Iggy & Rita Ora live in Chicago last weekend... a review that drew the attention of Ms. Azalea as well...
Rita Ora, born in Kosovo, moved to the United Kingdom the same year has been making big waves since her debut studio album release, ORA, with three singles shooting straight to number one. She will soon be making waves as she kicks off her promotional shows in America.

Iggy in awesome stripperVERSACE heels
With a budding following in Chicago, Iggy Azalea kicked opened wearing a a white crop top and paneled mesh-faux leather legging accentuating her itty bitty waistline and enviable booty. Making her look complete, her porn star-esque booties and sexually charged lyrics had the whole club bouncing. Though some of her songs lacked variety, she showed her potential to grow as an artist. Iggy can really hold her own. Can't wait to see her head lining her own shows in the US because we need more girls like her. Her rocking out the hip hop and Rita Ora coming out next, I was brought back to my girl power days of Spice Girls and thought how much more these girls could pack a REAL punch! Whether the crowd knew Iggy’s lyrics or not, she got everyone to dance and even brought a few lucky fans on stage… including one in a red blazer complete with bedazzled panties. I couldn’t get a clear picture of his crotch because he was gyrating too much.

Before the concert, I got a chance to meet Rita! She was so cute and bubbly with a fashion sense I admire. She rocked out some dark lipstick, eyeball dangle earrings, skull rings, and a mod white dress. She really has some sick style. As everyone at the blog already knows… I’m obsessed with skulls and creepy things. I’m glad I got to meet her and know that we have an obsession in common.
Backstage with Rita Ora!
Rita Ora kicked off an amazing and intimate show. Her opening song, Facemelt, was 90 seconds of pure energy. Her chained decorated mic and use of drum showed that was ready to give a good show. Her cd years in the making only verified how much she has honed her performing skills. Songs like Rock Da Life and Shine Ya Light were quintessential anthems to her Roc Nation heritage. And of course, she took it slow with an emotional filled rendition of Swim Good. Though not as soul forthcoming as Frank Ocean, her vocal chords were insane. (then again, who can ever be as soul exposing as Frank O?)
Check out that body!
Ending her concert with Uneasy and R.I.P, I felt complete. Rita confessed R.I.P. is her ultimate favorite song. Written by Drake, but rumored to be intended for Rihanna, this song was DESTINED to be Rita’s. Nailing each note and “beating it down to a bloody pulp” as described by Perez Hilton, Rita's rookie appeal and confident attitude is absolute perfection. It was an early concert but I had myself singing her songs all weekend. I left feeling like the next time I see her will be filling arenas. She has a voice that her CD doesn’t do her justice. She has a look that will only get better. The craziest thing of it all… she’s just getting started.
And yes, she is actually that pretty in person… if not more... And her singing is even better live.
Rita is on the RIIIIIIIISEEEEE!
UPDATE: Then I got called out for by Iggy herself on twitter for calling her heels stripper heels...
I GOT... #OWNED
I'm just trying to say that this girl has so much edge ad glam she can make anything look high fashion. You need your own clothing line! How could I have ever doubted this Refinery29 star? :P
