Here are a couple of interesting people to join Hit-Boy & HS87 in the studio. One is a Chicago artist who is prime to take a next step with the release of the INNANETAPE later this month. That is of course, Vic Mensa. And the other is a Chicago nemesis, of sorts, just because the all-star point guard Rajon Rondo has gotten into some scuffles with our Bulls over the years. Hopefully, given the track record of basketball players as rappers, we just hear Vic on this final product. Whatever the case though, I'm lookin' forward to hearing that and it's great to see Mr. Mensa linked up with one of my favorite producers and a talented rap crew like Hit Boy & HS87.
All signs point to yes as #OVOHS87 looks like it's going down these past few days in Toronto. This collab of Drake with two of hip hop's hottest producers has "banger of the year" potential. I'm definitely curious to hear the end product they are "cooking up".
Label news outta Miss Info as Hit-Boy tells her he's officially no longer part of G.O.O.D. Music and is now focusing on his HS87 label. I dig what Hit Boy's doin with his stable of artists, but definitely hope there's more collabs on the way with 'Ye & Co. After all, there's no beef or anything; Hit-Boy says he just fulfilled what his contract stated and is focused on his own label. Watch the interview above to also hear Hit-Boy's thoughts on Yeezus.
Mariah Carey’s upcoming highly anticipated album finally has a title! Thanks to longtime collaborator and friend Jermaine Dupri, who made the official announcement last night. The Art Of Letting Go will be released on July 23rd. As you know the album will feature contributions from of course Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Mike Will Made It, Hit-Boy, The-Dream, Big Jam Wright, R. Kelly, Darkchild, and Miguel.
From that tweet one would gather that Carey has now finished putting the final touches on her new album, which I’m beyond excited for. So far lead single "#Beautiful," which features talented vocalist Miguel has thus far peaked at #15 on Billboard Hot 100. Speaking on "#Beautiful" Carey recently shared some behind the scenes photos and tweets leading one to believe that there could be a remix on the raise.
Whatever the case I cannot wait to hear this album! Based off the title I’m guessing there will be a lot of ballads, which is the strongest area Carey shines in. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s revealed that Carey will be one of the performers for the upcoming BET Awards. Meanwhile all we need is one last album announcement from one person….
Here's MySpace's trendy way to announce its return — a commercial of a wide range of well-known musicians having fun! That's why you see Chicago's Chance The Rapper reppin' in the thumbnail on the homepage, as he is joined by the likes of Pharrell, Mac Miller, Riff Raff, Ciara, Hit-Boy, Schoolboy Q, and more. Fun commercial that represents the brand's new essence. Let's see if it carries over to return the social platform to a level where it once was. MySpace.com — I'll be with you in checking it out.
