July 13th, 2013 was a day filled with appreciation of art, poetry and music. The amazingly talented painter Janeen held an art and instrumental event in downtown Chicago. This event was not only to show off different skills of art but, also an appreciation for those with breast cancer. This was definitely an eye opener for those that love art and for those that are interested in the culture of art.
When entering the venue, nothing but love and support filled the room. Beautiful smiles along with bold introductions were given as a generous amount of soulful food was placed in your hand (In a plate) to feed the mind, body and soul before the show started. Also with the food came tasteful desserts such as milk, cookies, cotton candy, chocolate sticks and pie to fill your sweet tooth.
After filling the stomach with such great food, it was time for the show to begin. As the crowd took their seats, Janeen guided the show away. The first artist that stepped to the mic was the urban culture poet Ebonee. This woman had words that could really speak to one's mind. The emotion filled in each word was full of passion, as she continued speaking in each piece she gave. Ebonee spoke each piece of poetry as if she was the only person in the room, but she surely connected to each heart that was in the area.
Next stepping to the mic was the homie Real T@lk. The name speaks for itself. Using bold metaphors and mindful stories, he gain the attention and support of the crowd. Real T@lk did more than just rap, he created a visual picture for our eyes to see and did justice to the genre we all know as Hip-Hop. As the beats from the music had your body bouncing, the skill and flow that Real T@lk presented had hands waving in the air and the crowd chanting his words. I for one chanted a few times, esspecially..."DYNAMITE, DYNAMITE"!! As Janeen stated "He's Dope", I easily agreed after his performance. #DOPExHYPExFRESH performance Bruh.
After the poetry and music was complete, the crowd went crazy with excitement because the talented Janeen was about to give a live show of how she creates her artwork. With this piece of work being dedicated to her mother (A breast cancer survivor), everyone know that this work of art was going to be a wonder to see. As the smooth tunes filled the room, with Janeen's mother in front row, she lets all emotion and creativity bleed into each brush stroke. As Janeen grooved to the tunes, the picture became clearer. Beautiful shapes, bold and bright colored with a piece of mind certainly described her appreciation and views of her mother. Once the piece was complete, a loud standing ovation was given with tears of joy and a rosey blush from her mother was given. This piece opened our eyes and warmed our heart. This piece has to be one of my favorites.
Before the night ended, Janeen's mother took the stage and gave each and everyone of us some words of encouragement. Speaking from the mind and heart, this Holy woman touched each of our hearts. After hearing some wise words of wisdom given from such an amazing woman, it was time for the event to come to an end. Although the event came to an end, we all left with a blessed mind.
Thank you to Janeen for such an amazing experience. And thank you for giving us the chance to see your wonderful artwork. We here at GWHH look forward to seeing more of your work soon.
Elementz Emcee brings you the Chicagoan trifecta in featuring Scheme and producer Wes P to create "Hitman". Elementz Emcee and Scheme become mercenaries of rhyme in verbally disfiguring this track bar by bar. This track is a great example of why Chicago Hip-Hop continues to gain momentum nationwide and it's due to the lyricism and productions that the city has been providing for the past few years. Elementz Emcee's "Hitman" is just another example of what legendary professional wrestler, Bret "Hitman" Hart, would consider to be the excellence of execution.
Tragedy Tha Beast releases his single "Young N*ggas" a track that will be a part of his The Manifestation LP which will be dropping August 27. The the single itself is a visual representation of the issues the youth deal with in the current state of Chicago violence. It's a logical perspective to start taking a different approach and start doing better things and as a result improving the lives of people living in Chicago's violent stricken areas.
