Fitting that Nicki's Hebru sculpture is a pink FlyGirl, no?
Hebru's run of A-list looks at Art Basel continues as Nicki Minaj received this for her place and shouted out Hebru on her IG earlier today. Hebru also linked up with LeBron James last week, ICYMI, Hublot Watches, and more. Our own Cam Be was with Hebru all week so be on the lookout for more photos/coverage as Art Basel concludes.
Art Basel has begun in Miami and it's only right that Chicago's top artist of the moment links with Miami's King. Hebru Brantley presented LeBron James with this personalized piece today, which James also instagrammed below. Our own Cam Be is with Hebru all week in Miami so be sure to follow him @Camovement for more exclusive updates!
Special thanks to my Big bro Juwan Howard aka 17 on this personalized @hebrubrantley piece. Crazy! Really appreciate the both of u for this. #KnowTheLedge #Art
Remembering Emmett Till: The Assassination of Innocence [Trailer]
A film by Enstrumental & Hebru Brand
The story of Emmett Till is certainly a tragic one, but it's one us younger generations should become more aware about and I think this new film will be just the way to do so.
Enstrumental & Hebru Brand are teaming up for 'Remembering Emmett Till: The Assassination of Innocence' and in the new trailer above, they linked up with friend and Grammy award winning artist Lupe Fiasco to speak on the importance of the story. But that's not all. The trailer teases a chilling eye-witness experience from Emmett's cousin.
Press play and look out for the film later this month. Directed by Enstrumental Drew and filmed by T.E.H.O. Media. In the meantime, you can start out here for more on the Emmett Till story. I, for one, am looking forward to getting more educated about the important historical event of Emmett Till's murder. #Salute to Drew, Hebru, and all involved.
From cartoons to graffiti to fine art, Hebru Brantley is the hottest name in the Chicago arts scene with loyalists such as Jay Z, Alicia Keys, and LeBron James. His transition from graffiti to canvas has attracted some serious national attention. Through all of this success, Hebru represents Chicago. Recently asked by the Huffington Post, Hebru talks his love for the city and the family like feel here.
The Penny Candy shop ran from Friday to Sunday during Lollapalooza and was hosted all weekend long by Hebru in conjunction with Enstrumental, whose shirts have become iconic. Definitely check out his shirt (on Lupe in the pics) "Rap - Lies = Hip hop." (#TheMathematics). Ahhhhhhh he couldn't have put it better. Plus, Hebru combined with Enstrumental for the exclusive release of a line only available in the pop up shop this weekend — for example, the "Mike" series below.
We got the chance to chit chat with the big man, with an equally big heart. Coming up from the Southside, Hebru’s so grounded and his art illustrates his upbringing with fantasy like depiction. So much love for Hebru! Such a great event and such an amazing individual! #ChicagoPride
New music from Lu in a month?! Wow, these next two months of music keep shaping up with an exciting mix of releases from some big names, my favorite artists, and let's not forget the underground independent scene too. Keep in tune!
As for Lu, the most recent Twitter chatter from him regarding new music was a song called "Blur My Hands" featuring Guy Sebastian and produced by Symbolyc One (as recapped here). He did, however, disclaim that it was not the first single. Shouts to LUPend for the news and potential artwork above?
And lastly, we actually ran into Lupe himself just yesterday at the Hebru Brantley x Enstrumental Pop-Up Shop! Great to connect with him during Lolla weekend in the hometown. More Lolla coverage coming and if you're in Chicago, Hebru's Pop-Up Shop is the place to be and going on all weekend at 902 S. Wabash. Simply put: fresh art and fashion that you gotta see for yourself. And who knows who you'll see there today and tomorrow?!
