Just moments ago, Big Sean released a dope new documentary chronicling the 'Road To Hall of Fame'. The in-depth video goes as far back as 508 days before the album's release earlier this month and centers around the creative process and development of tracks that made and didn't make the album. As you can then imagine, we see some candid studio sessions with the likes of No I.D., Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, and Common (whose first reaction to "Fire" was priceless.)
Give this some time and stay tuned through the end for truly a full-circle conclusion that best explains why the album is called Hall of Fame. I appreciate seeing such a close look and insight into an artist creating art and this was a job well done by director Zeno Jones, Sean (who narates it all), and the whole crew.
BONUS: Appreciate the dap from Sean on our new video earlier this week. Check it out below, along with our new GIF of what he mentioned in the tweet. Ha!
My most anticipated collab off Hall Of Fame is liberated today with the full album leak. Had to spotlight this one as it delivers on the hype with the guest features involved: Nas & Kid Cudi. It's Big Sean that shines brightest amongst his fellow stars with two stellar verses, including a memorable third verse where he uses repetition well as part of his storytelling. Nas does his usual brilliant job with the second verse and Kid Cudi takes it home with an eclectic verse that picks up in intensity as it goes. This is the type of track to run back a few times to fully digest it and after having done so already, I want to keep running it back. That's a sign of an instant *Tibs Fav. and "First Chain" is certainly one of the standouts of Hall Of Fame.
In a fresh way to hype up the upcoming album, Big Sean himself breaks down track by track Hall Of Fame in this new video above. He either explains how a record came together or the meaning of the messages behind it. From the sounds of it, I think we'll be in store for a versatile record where Sean has a mix of soulful and party records, but all, as he says, honest. If that certainly comes across, then even if you can't directly relate to a record, you'll be able to appreciate it. Sean also names many of the producers and featured vocalists on the records — No I.D. gettin' a lot of love, as he's named the producer of "First Chain" with Nas & Kid Cudi (my most anticipated track, considering the guest stars). Needless to say, I'm lookin' forward to August 27th to cop Sean's sophomore album, Hall Of Fame.
The announcement yesterday of Hall Of Fame dropping August 27th is quickly followed by the announcement of Big Sean's new single. It's entitled "Beware" and will feature Lil Wayne & Jhene Aiko. Look out for the song here on Gowhere this week!
Plus, we can now safely say there's a consistent theme with the artwork. See also: "Switch Up" f/ Common.
While across the pond, Big Sean stopped in with Semtex over at BBC in London to discuss a variety of things like his recently released mixtape, Detroit, upcoming album, Hall Of Fame, and perhaps most notably: the rumors surrounding a Cruel Winter album from G.O.O.D. Music.
In this interview, for the first time we have some confirmation as Sean says he has recorded something for the project! Listen to the clip above and be on the lookout for the full interview here on Gowhere by the week's end.
