Earlier this fall, we sponsored, alongside Marcus Shadden, Social Con Clothing, and Conscious Couture, a fresh all-style dance competition entitled 'The Streets Are My Canvas'!

The concept was simple: the city's hottest young breakers and freestyle dancers were invited to battle, 1-on-1, until there was one winner left standing in tournament-style fashion.

Naturally, we saw a variety of styles that I can sit here and list, or what's better for you, to just see in the excellent new recap video above. I was floored by some of the moves, twists, bends, and overall swagger and flamboyance that was on display.

Dancing is truly an art form - and The Streets Are My Canvas was a reminder of that. The balance of physical and mental dexterity with the open platform to be creative is an avenue I wish I could tap into (at least in other ways besides how Carlton does).

Tonight we have another dope GWHH-sponsored event going down in Chicago as Sub-T is the place to be for an entertaining mix of live hip hop to be on display. E-Train, now residing in L.A., will bring his electro-hip hop stylings back to his hometown, and he'll be accompanied by a couple of my favorite up and coming lyricists from Chicago: Young General & The Boy Illinois. "Holly-Go" starts at 9 so don't be late!

Clear your schedules for Black Friday, ladies and gents! In the heart of Wicker Park this Friday night, come on out to The Silver Room where we'll be joining forces with New Era to present "Food 4 Thought" - a canned food drive and listening party for talented Chicago hip hop and poet, Real T@lk's upcoming project, The Talented Tenth 8.0.

We got together with Real T@lk to shoot a fun and quick commercial, capturing his journey from spot to spot, while previewing one of his lyrical heaters to come on the project. Take a minute out and press play above (and keep your eyes peeled for that good Sgt. Tibs cameo :))
