Via Lupe's now private Twitter account (haha), he revealed last night he was listening to the first edit of a new song featuring his "Battle Scars" compadre Guy Sebastian. As you can see it's called "Blur My Hands" and the #TY indicates his upcoming announced album, Tetsuo Youth. Plus, S1 tweeted it above too and this makes sense since Lu and him have been in the lab, both parties have said in recent history. All sounds like a good combo to me! Hopefully we'll have that final edit sooner than later.
Late night TV was in for a hip hop treat tonight in its first night of 2013. Big Boi was on Letterman (below) while Lupe Fiasco invaded Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, bringing with him Guy Sebastian for a performance of "Battle Scars". They were, of course, accompanied by The Roots for some background instrumentation, but Lupe & Guy definitely stood out in the forefront. Lupe spit word for word while Guy flipped his delivery to bring something fresh to all those used to his voice on the studio version. All in all, another dope performance of the high-charting single Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, in stores now.
And here's GIF 2 of 3 of the night... I been seeing and holding onto these that you guys are just going to get a bonanza of them tonight. Kansas Men's Basketball dancing in the locker room. Over/under on how many times you'll watch this: 10.
Just airing an hour ago, Lupe Fiasco kicked it on the Late Night with Letterman stage once again, this time with Guy Sebastian joining him for a jazzy rendition of "Battle Scars". I equally liked this more mellowed out performance of the hit single as much as their more high-energy version on X-Factor: Australia recently. The live instrumentation really brought it to life and both Lu & Guy did their thing as well. One more highlight from the video is actually David Letterman introducing Lupe's new album (in stores now!), Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, with his signature dry sense of humor. Just watch. Hilarious moment. And oh yeah, go cop that new album! It's the only music in my roto at the moment...
