Not too long ago there was a rumor going around on Twitter that legendary rap artist Too Short had died...Well I'm here to let you know first hand that those rumors are all completely false, because I just talked to him. Too Short is very much alive and he has a lot of new interesting things in works.
While chillin' backstage with Too Short after his show at the Harold Washington Culture Center in Chicago he let me in on his new plans:
"I'm working on a project with E-40, you can almost say its almost like Doc Dre and The Detox album"
His new album with E-40 is not the only thing we can expect to see from this Oakland born rapper as he also has a new book coming out about his life journey.
"It's just a book about Too Short and Oakland and my experiences, my journey"
Too Short on keeping his music on the scene:
"I just don't want no one to say you had to stop, here's proof there is an age and you can't rap past that age...cause I was a kid when rap came out how are you gone take it form me? I was there when it was invented, I was one of the first ones to except it."
Too Short on whether he will ever stop rapping:
"I'm gonna do it until I really find that line where they are like you 'ain't cool anymore'"
For all you MC's out there listen up Too Short gave me the top reason he sees other rappers fall off again and again... after 20 years in the game ...I think he knows what he's talking about! Too Short keeps it all the way real in this interview, check it out!

Miguel. You know him from his three consecutive hit singles: "All I Want is You","Sure Thing", and "Quickie". A critically acclaimed musical style uniquely combining R&B, soul, funk, and electronic elements. An eclectic personal style that has generated hefty commentary and media attention...Miguel stopped through Chicago last night to perform at The Shrine as a part of Grey Goose's Rising Icons Tour.
He certainly proved why he deserves a place on this tour. Miguel effortlessly captivated the crowd with his buttery vocals and authentic talent, performing cuts from his debut album, "All I Want Is You". (I see several pairs of ladies' undergarments flung at the stage as confirmation of this :P). Miguel took some time to talk to GWHH about how he's dealing with being overlooked for a Grammy nod, his vulnerable songwriting process, sophmore album, and how important it is to stay true to yourself through the fame. Be prepared to be impressed through his warmth, eloquence, and how utterly comfortable Miguel is in his own skin!

I got a chance to accompany Singer/Song writer sensation Mario. While he visited Chicago to promote his new mix tape and single "The Walls". It was a day filled with interviews, performances, love and laughter. I can tell you one thing: after seeing what one artist goes through in just one day, being a superstar is more than what meets the eye.
In this video, we take you for a sneak peek into a day in the life of Mario while he visits various places in Chicago. Mario loves Chicago and all the love he gets from the city as he coins Chicago as one of the first places he got his start. While visiting WGCI, Mario sits down with Demi Lobo in the Coke Lounge and gives a very in depth interview. Find out what Chicago artist he would love to do a collaboration with and more!
Mario is a hardworking talented and dedicated artist who loves his fans.. just as much as they love him. Be on the look out for his new album Restoration, which is due to hit stores February 7th 2012.
Remember Carl Thomas? How could you forget he was Bad Boy Records hottest R&B artist of the early 2000's giving us hits like "Emotional", "I Wish", and "Summer Rain". Carl Thomas has since moved on from Bad Boy Records and has a new album coming out later this month entitled Conquer.
I got a chance to sit down with him after his performance at "The Resurrection of R&B Tour" last week. Carl Thomas is a smart and talented man, not only is he vocally gifted he knows the inner workings of the music industry very well and he thinks anyone interested in the music game should know it too.
"So many people view multimedia as something you don't have to study and I hate that"
On the fall of Bad Boy:
"I think Bad Boy is an elder statesman of the game, we have accomplished everything that there ever was possible to accomplish; a fortune 500 company isn't going to last 400 years"
Find out what Carl says when asked about how a lot of people say Diddy doesn't treat Bad Boy artist fairly. I really enjoyed this interview with Carl Thomas, he held nothing back! He even speaks on new age artists in R&B like Chris Brown and Trey Songz, check it out!
First of all, when you watch this video it's very apparent that the Minnesota rook Derrick Williams can't wait to hoop this season. Derrick told me he never lacks confidence and is always looking for a challenge. What's known for certain is the #2 overall pick of the NBA is eager to showcase his skills and prove he belongs amongst the NBA elite. Why shouldn't he?? He led Arizona deep in the NCAA tourney, posted crazy stats on the daily, and finished college as one of the most highly acclaimed players coming out last year. If memory of his thundering, highlight dunks on Sportscenter have escaped you, no fear, bro! There will be a NBA season for everyone to get reacquainted with Derrick. I'm glad the season is going to crack, because that lockout was just plain dumb lol. As I digress, I was able to get acquainted with Derrick Williams at the Idris Elba event recently at Excalibur. Go peep all the cool soundbites and some equally cool background music provided by DJ Pharris and an upcoming artist named John Desh. Enjoy that. TGIF and what not. Groove!
P.S. Much propers to my man Dartise on the videography. I've been rolling tight with him since our days at WFLD-TV. He's quite the beast (with 11 Emmys to prove it!) The edits were super crispy also. Teamwork makes the dream work. Ha!
Continuing our exclusive coverage of Nike Basketball's 'Basketball Never Stops' event at the United Center is a performance an interview with Chicago's own: Malik Yusef! No doubt you're familiar with Malik even if you're not familiar... he has been featured on many of Kanye West's albums and has collaborated with the whole original G.O.O.D. Music camp and more throughout the years. His powerful spoken word poetry has won Chicago Music Awards and Truth Awards for Spoken Word Artist of the Year and above, you can watch him kick off the event with an amazing, basketball themed poem on... well... life.
In addition to the chilling performance, keep it locked for a fun and informative interview with Jen DeLeon as Malik mentions he's working on Kanye's next solo album on the heels of Watch The Throne, and some upcoming charity work that we'll see in the near future. Plus, Malik even does some dancing and joking around throughout. It's a nice mix of thought-provoking words and good entertainment so check out the video above!
