The self-proclaimed "King Of Chicago", G.o.D. Jewels recently stopped by GWHQ and first talked with our own Samantha Lebbos(below, in case you missed it). But before he left, we also threw on "New God Flow" and witnessed a furious set of intellectual rhymes from Chicago's Basquiat (another alias). You can really feel Jewels' angst in the lyrics against the hurdles of comin' up, even specifically in the Chicago hip hop scene. Flat out, these raps are the latest in many examples of why G.o.D. Jewels is on my personal shortlist of Chicago emcees on the rise. Watch above and be sure to get to know him more with our fun interview below. (Hope to hear these bars recorded over this or maybe a future song altogether...)
There may be no place like home. But what's home to those of us living on the south side of Chicago? An area where crime is life and the sights are nothing more than a mere trip to the corner store. For Chicago rapper, G.o.D. Jewels, toughin out life in the south is simply a means to an end. A possible hope that his grind and musical abilities can get him to the place he envisions as the pinnacle of human civilization.
Watch as the self proclaimed king of Chicago talks with Gowhere Hip Hop's very own Samantha Lebbos about his upcoming project, The Glimpse of Destiny, his 'Looking Glass' video series (the final part, part 4 below), the R.N.V. slogan, and more. Look for G.o.D.'s "New God Flow" freestyle to drop soon. #ChiCity
