It's been a great year for Frank Ocean. He will be performing at the VMA's September 6th and Saturday Night Live's Season Premiere September 15th! Seth McFarlane, creator of Family Guy, is set to host. Other guests this season will include Justin Gordan-Levitt, Mumford & Sons, Daniel Craig, and Muse.
Also look for election SNL. Jason Sudeikis is already slated to be Mitt Romney and only hilarity ensues. Though Kristin Wiig and Andy Samberg will be leaving the cast, there is still so much to look forward to this coming season.
Frank Ocean has been known to turn lemons into lemonade solid gold. Rumors circulating about his bisexuality were confirmed with a heartfelt tumblr post only steering him into commercial success. I couldn't have been happier for mankind! Set to perform on one of the biggest stages at Lolla, Frank Ocean was intially rained out of his performance but was able to start a late set at 9:45pm after the Saturday Lolla rain delay. The weather couldn't rain out his heart burning performance of "Bad Religion."
September is already looking out to be a good month. Perhaps the summer ending isn't so bad after all...
Newly dubbed PBR&B (Pabst Blue Ribbon/Rhythm & Blues), after the choice "hipster" beer, has been growing. Lyrically-layered, emotional verses, lo-fi rhythms, todays R&B artist are not afraid to lay it on the line. Frank Ocean, Drake,Miguel are leading the pack of breaking and new grounds. Recently coming out about his bisexuality, Frank Ocean risked his commercial success just a week before releasing Channel Orange. Taking influences from Marvin Gaye and the Temptations just to name a few, I like where today's R&B is going.
Well it’s now confirmed that Frank Ocean will be hitting the stage this year for his first MTV VMA performance. Ocean now joins recentlyannouncedRihanna, Alicia Keys, Pink, Green Day, and One Direction. Ocean also released his debut album this year channel ORANGE that so far has only sold 262k in the US.
Let’s cross our fingers and hope MTV adds more exciting performers to this lineup, because I’m not really jumping up for joy right now.
What an awesome weekend Lollapalooza was this year. Chicago was filled with entertainment from morning to night. This year, Govia and I got to cover the festival and the after parties. Not only did we listen to your favorite songs from your favorite artists, but we got to talk to a few of them. Check out this Lollapalooza recap that was put together for all of you who couldn't attend or just want to relive the experience. The interviews include artists who took over the Perry Stage such as Bassnectar, Paper Diamond, Zedd, DJ Zebo, and Zeds Dead who talk about what it takes to become an artist and the use of all the production these days. Also, Black Sabbath's keyboardist Adam Wakeman talks to us about the few shows this year with Ozzy Osbourne. This recap also includes many more performances at Lollapalooza such as The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more from after parties at the Hard Rock Hotel. Enjoy!
