Frank Ocean opens up again on his tumblr. Known for his coming out just one week before his debut album, Frank Ocean has used the site to share his poetic writings and candid feelings directly to his fans. He addresses his tremendous success and the obstacles he's overcome. Get a glimpse through his eyes here.
I have a feeling there are a lot of people wanting to hear the end result of this studio session. Via Pharrell's Twitter a couple of hours ago. Looks like Jay isn't resting after opening up the Barclays Center, huh?
If you missed Frank Ocean make his Saturday Night Live debut earlier tonight, then simply put, you missed a treat. Ocean was accompanied by John Mayer, who flanked him on guitar for performances of "Thinkin' Bout You" and "Pyramids". Both songs contained many subtleties that are different than the studio versions of Channel Orange, as both the sounds of Mayer and the band, plus Ocean's own twist on the vocals make both of these videos must-sees to catch the differences.
I particularly liked the endings of both as in "Thinkin' Bout You", Ocean's vocals and mannerisms raise up a notch (with some ad-libbing as well) and in "Pyramids", Mayer's guitar solo combined with Ocean actually playing the arcade game to symbolically mean... something. I'm not sure exactly what, but what I am sure of is that arcade games are awesome. Be sure to watch both of these - "Thinkin' Bout You" above and "Pyramids" below!
With SNL rehearsals likely going down in New York this week, Frank Ocean couldn't hold his excitement to share the news that he'll be accompanied by John Mayer for the season premiere this Saturday. With Mayer's contribution to "Pyramids", I suspect that will be the song Ocean performs with Mayer. My prediction for the other song: it's gotta be "Bad Religion" right? We'll find out soon enough this Saturday night.
Well we already knew Rihanna was set to perform, but now MTV has announced that the model will be the show opener. As I mentioned yesterday she will be performing 'We Found Love' then leading into 'Cockiness' with A$AP Rocky.
