In breaking NBA uniform news, both the OKC Thunder and New York Knicks have revealed new alternate uniforms they will be wearing this season. Both teams needed something else to wear on the road, but now I just wish it was somethin' else.
As you can see above, the Thunder go the unconventional route with 'Thunder' draping the jersey vertically. They also go the unconventional route by not including any of the team's colors. I dig the concept, I dig the simplicity, I don't dig that they look more like Penn State uniforms than OKC Thunder uniforms. Where's that unique shade of blue? Why not mix in some orange and black as well?
All that said, the Knicks alternates make the Thunder's alternates a smashing hit. I normally vibe with mono-themed clothing, but not with NBA jerseys, and not with orange. Especially disappointing after their new away/home unis successfully paid homage to the 80s and 90s Knicks threads. They could have done the same here if they had simply reversed some of the colors, with the orange-based unis making for a modern twist, but they unfortunately missed the boat on that opportunity.
You can look forward to seeing these unis throughout the season, starting tonight when OKC debuts them at home. They actually have a great glimpse at the design inspirations on their site, so check that out as well.
New York brand, Hood by Air, releases their Fall/Winter 2012 lookbook featuring designer, Edison Chen. The sneak preview showcases exclusive cold weather looks including the Paramount tee which has gained popularity via the A$AP clan. The simple logo color blocks and sleeve detail definitely caught my eye!
Post election high, or low, the take away from last nights events is inspiration. Whether you voted for Obama or not, we must be thankful that we as Americans have the power to be entrepenuers and thats what makes this country great.
The next step will be to dress the part.

Nike Sportswear’s Gentry Humphrey hinted that there would indeed be a third colorway to be released. No official release date or an official makeup of the show is confirmed, but still good news right?

This week on Jay-Z's YouTube Channel, street wear pioneer, Dapper Dan is highlighted in his first interview in over 20 years. The Harlem-world native, talks about how he became an independent clothes designer after major brands refused to sell to him because he was black. He became the go-to guy for custom designer clothing in New York. In turn, he made pieces for the likes of almost every local black gangster, rapper, and athlete. Dapper may have the biggest influence on modern street wear clothing lines and boutiques, and he goes into his detail about how he made his name below. Bartek Elsner is a Berlin based, multi-disciplinary designer with the focus on digital communication and interaction. He has created a great work for the client MIni Schweiz. It was a promotion for the International Radio Festival 2012 in Zurich / Switzerland. The huge boombox is sourrounding the car. The Mini is the battery for the powerful sound. Fall is in full swing. As I reach for my glass of whiskey to warm me up on a brisk evening, I start to think of all the ways I transition during this season in particular and how much Mad Men I will be watching these next few months.
As your closets are turning over here are some fabulous ties and dapper winter accessories so that you can maintain that swag all year round. I also threw a couple random ties just incase vintage isn't quite your style.
I have mixed feelings about this. High fashion girls want to look tomboy-ish so they buy hi top wedged shoes? Apparently, this is the best thing since sliced bread. Ever since Isabel Marant released the high top wedge shoes , labels have been trying to ride the latest trend wave. The shoes come in at about $800 a pair and sold out almost everywhere!
Maybe its just me, but I have several pairs of hi top kicks, no wedge that I think look way cooler. With Adidas and Nike, I just buy boys shoes and rock them out with my favorite leggings. I think wedge shoes are going to be a trend that we will look back with the same disgust as acid wash jeans and shoulder pads.
Knock offs from Ash, Jeffrey Campbell, and Steve Madden all look extremely comparable AND afforadable. However, the more affordable shoes still hit the $150-200 price point range. Is it just me? I suddenly just want to buy a pair of the adiZero 3 instead...

Tonight at the new Barclays Center, Jay-Z performed the first of two shows to break in the new Brooklyn arena. He not only debuted a new verse a few hours ago, but also donned the first Brooklyn Nets jersey - wearing number #4, which is his and the wife's lucky number (born December 4th and September 4th respectively. The number is retired for Wendell Latner). You can see him rockin' the away threads in the grainy clear photo below (updated via NBA) and see the official images the NBA just put out above. The unis are now officially on sale.
I was expecting something a little more abstract, but I do dig the font choices and you can't go wrong with a sharp black and white fit. Your thoughts on the uniforms?
