In the new episode of the Life + Times' "The Truth with Elliott Wilson", we find out the creative process from Jhene Aiko on her two most recent collabs: Drake's "From Time" on NWTS and her record/video with Childish Gambino "Bed Peace". The former's hook stems from something personal from Aiko, while the latter draws on her liking to the John Lennon / Yoko Ono relationship and what they stood for. It's cool to hear the details of how those records originated and then were worked on with the respective artists. Plus, Aiko drops some general life gems about not believing in setbacks and that everything is all a part of the journey. #Salute to that!
Jhene Aiko's Sail Out EP drops next Tuesday, November 12th.
As you know Sunday night Drake sat down with Elliott Wilson of Rap Radar at NYU’s Skirball Center. The chat was apart of Elliott Wilson’s series of conversations with rap artist CRWN. During the interview said "Pound Cake," his collaboration with Jay Z, presented the opportunity to contribute to Beyoncé’s new album.
“Writing with Beyoncé… She’s got bars!” He stated, even though Beyoncé would be mad him for revealing the info on her upcoming project. He also revealed How Jay Z’s verses for "Pound Cake" came about. Originally Jay Z recorded the two verses you hear on “Pound Cake” for Magna Carta… Holy Grail. Drake heard the verses and loved them so he convinced Jay Z to give him the acapella's for his album, Nothing Was The Same. Wednesday CRWN part 1 of 3 will be aired on MySpace. Nothing Was The Same drops tomorrow so be sure to support it!
Seriously this will never get old! lol
Meanwhile… Still waiting on that album Beyoncé (-_-).
