The highly anticipated mixtape DYNASTY, is the first project from the DreamTeam camp collectively. It features a laundry list of local Chicago hip-hop artists including VP and TeeJay (who previously collaborated on tracks like "Afraid to Lose" and "Put em Up") with features from Solar Five, Green Slime and Apollo Mac. I have been listenting to VP for awhile now and I can safely say this is by far the best work to come out from his crew. I am proud this project is a product of Chicago.
I don't like to classify records too much as I don't like to blur the intentions of the artists themselves. Moreover, as music transforms if becomes increasingly difficult to categorize the records. But what I do know is that this mixtape hosts many different sounds. To me, "Vega" stands out as the premiere single and is more of a classic record. Yet the mixtape as a whole encompasses club/party/dance records, while "Roll Another One" f/ Green Slime was a nice homage to VP's previous mixtape Crackers & Swaggiar and flowed well with his new direction. I also give props to VP aka Chef Boy for producing the tracks as well as spitting raw verses. A lot of rappers claim to put in long hours in the studio but VP ACTUALLY does. His attention to detail and quality shine through with each track. GWHH has nothing but respect for VP and the rest of The DreamTeam.
