On Saturday, September 7th, Dwyane will host the Choose to Live, Live to Dream Festival at Douglas Park. The Wade's World Foundation has collaborated with the City of Chicago to provide a day of entertainment, resources and encouragement for children and young adults within the city. The free festival will forge a strong message that we believe our youth will make better choices when their natural abilities, talents, and aspirations are nurtured through quality programming in a safe environment. There will be an opportunity for youth to sign up for City approved after school programs to ensure access to a safe haven throughout the year. Onsite activities will include entertainment, free dental and health screenings, and employment opportunities for young adults.
Choose to Live, Live to Dream Festival will be sponsored by US Cellular, Chicago Public Schools, City of Chicago, Aramark, Gatorade, U.S. Cellular, and Vienna Beef.
Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat are currently overseas for 'The China Games' as they'll play a couple exhibitions versus the L.A. Clippers in... wait for it... China! Naturally, this is the perfect week for Wade to unveil his new signature shoe with Chinese brand Li-Ning. Above you can see the 'Way Of Wade' and below a close-up at the kicks. However, Wade says that "what you see in China will not be the final product," according to the Associated Press. That's good in that I hope they fix the laces and tongue aesthetics for the final product. Not really feelin' those.
What do you guys think of Wade's new shoe? Would you cop it?
And now... the photos! Closing out August every year in Chicago, Dwyane Wade returns to his hometown for a weekend of charity events raising money and awareness for Wade's World Foundation. One of the main events is the Chicago Has Talent Showcase - a talent show displaying the variety of talents the Chicago youth has to offer.
Last week, we brought you the video (which includes words from Wade himself, judge Michelle Williams (of Destiny's Child), and co-host Tika Sumpter), and now in the slideshow above, we have some cool photos from the Chicago Theatre. In addition to the big-name celebs on hand, also see photos of featured performer Jacob Latimore, judges Billy Dec, David Silbaugh, and Kim Tyler, and last but certainly not least - the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners - Maeya Ryan, Jake Julian, and Kristen Lowe.
I can't emphasize enough how talented not only those three, but all of the performers. Once again, catch the video below in case you missed it and see for yourselves!
Do you and Lebron and Chris Bosh coordinate your looks out there?
No, never. We're three guys who love to dress, and we love to see what each other wears from game to game, so we're all surprised when the other walks in. Some days it's weird, because we're color coordinated, and you're like, "why are we picking the same color right now?"
Though he claims that he does not purposely coordinate with Lebron James, the Miami Heat, Dwayne Wade, is definitely not a stranger to fashion. He curates his own collection available on Gilt today. Eccentric pieces, eclectic details, and definite masculine style looks great on that athletic body. :)
Last Saturday, we were on hand for Dwyane Wade's annual Chicago Has Talent Showcase - a talent show for Chicago's youth to express their skills in music, rapping, singing, dancing, spoken word, and more. I love going to the show every year to take in a variety of heartwarming performances that really illustrate an astonishing amount of talent from kids and teenagers of the area. Case in point: 1st place winner Maeya Ryan is an 11-year old pianist who could belt the high notes where if you had your eyes closed, you would think you're listening to Adele. She was amazing. The video above spotlights all of the performers so you can really get a sense of the types of talents on display!
But that's not all! Julian also chatted with one of the judges of the Talent Showcase - former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams - and one of the co-hosts of the evening, actress Tika Sumpter. Also performing at the Chicago Theatre was Jacob Latimore (who really had the young crowd going crazy) and Coco Jones, and you can see snippets of their performances too. All in all, it was an entertaining show and all for a great cause! Watch all the highlights and interviews above and remember to check out Wade's World Foundation for more!
