Piggybacking on Srirachana's post below, earlier today at the adiZero Rose 3 launch, there was an emotional moment where Derrick shed humble tears of reflection — both personally on what he and his family overcame growing up in Englewood, and with everything going on in our hometown (the crime and the CPS teachers strike which Rose tweeted on the other day) that we really feel Rose cares about. It was simply an incredible moment that epitomizes once again why Chicago roots so hard for one of their own, one who represents the city and one who rises above. Yup, adidas got it right: D. Rose will rise.
I just fell out of my chair when I saw this shoe. The third shoe to come out of the greatlest love story ever, Derrick Rose and Adidas. So much personal detail and personal special attention has been put into the shoe. Good both on and off the court, the shoe features an oversized tongue emblazoned with his familty tree and paying homage to the (notorious) Englewood neighborhood, where he grew up. Hopefully, residents of the current neighborhood can see this symbol that there is a way out of crime that has recently cause the death of many, including a murder with fingers pointing to Chief Keef.
The shoe features a brand new sillouette with synthetic and nubuck leather. Expected to release on October 4th, the shoe will be priced at $160. The initial release will feature black/white/red or grey/black/red color combos. Seven more colors will be released closer to Christmas season.
adidas Basketball resumes #TheReturn - their amazing documentary series in association with the Rose family to document Derrick Rose's recovery from a torn ACL. Once again, and this goes without saying, this episode entitled 'HOPE' is another inspiring one. Rose narrates footage of his training regimen and not being able to watch this year's playoffs. Watch and enjoy above and, again this goes without saying, we can't wait for the next one.
The NBA continues their summer series of top 10 countdowns of every team's best plays of the season, and today, our hometown Chicago Bulls can be seen above! Some amazing memories. Rose's Christmas Day winner over the Lakers, the OT tip-in by Luol, and of course... well... actually, I won't spoil #1.
Despite last season not ending how anyone expected Derrick Rose star continues to grow and he continues to stay positive about the future. The past couple weeks we've seen new commercials, web series, twitter account, and now we get new interview. In this interview D. Rose talks about family, growing up in Chicago, and what music he's listening to right now.
"Nobody believed in me in the beginning. Me, my friends, my city, and my fans. That's it. That's all I need. I wanna be great... I'm gonna be great. There's no doubt about it."
- Derrick Rose
It's hard not to be motivated after one viewing of the premiere episode of adidas Basketball's new documentary #TheReturn. The series will follow D. Rose on his road to recovery from the horrific Torn ACL he endured in the first game of last year's playoffs. I'll just let you see how it unfolds for yourself as Rose himself narrates the beginning of this journey. These rehab clips though, plus quoteables like the one above... yeah.. he'll be back. And it's going to be so uplifting!
The adidas Rose 773 is the latest in the line of Derrick Rose signature shoes from adidas. It should go as no to surprise to our hometown readers that 773 is a nod to one of our city's area codes so already, we're puffing our chests out with pride. The shoe itself bears resemblance to the Rose 2.5 and I view it as an extention of it stylistically. I actually ball in the 2.0s and can vouch for the performance aspect of the shoe as well. It's light, breathable, and I don't feel restricted making cuts. Mine are starting to wear out so I might actually be looking into one of the 11 team colorways that the Rose 773 is set to drop in. You can view the ones that are available now in the slideshow above and drop your credit card over at adidas' store here. Still kind of bittersweet to see that Olympic colorway that Rose was going to wear this summer in London, but whoo, that one is fresh.
OK, now I'm ready to take on the day. adidas Basketball just started the launch of their new #TheReturn campaign centered around Derrick Rose and his recovery from the tragic torn ACL injury that ended our playoff run and will sideline Rose into much of the next season (and perhaps all of it).
Needless to say though, this epic mix of visuals of Rose's rehabbing with words like Belief, Hope, Focus, Push and Drive are quite the motivator, no? I believe we'll be seeing a Derrick Rose back on the court 100% and better than ever when the time is right.
