Today, adidas released the final colorway of the D Rose 3, which made me sad because I can look at this shoe in all sorts of colors. But this one is different than the rest as the "Nightmare" edition boasts a purple base and patterned details throughout. I feel like Northwestern bball should rock these. What do you think of the purple Nightmares?
Memo to adidas: stop releasing cool colorways of the D Rose 3, I'm having a hard time deciding which pair I want to get.
Today, the new 'Brenda' colorway was released, following up on the 'Brenda' debut of the Rose 2's last season, which I was a big fan of. Likewise this season, I'm a big fan. Here are the details and inspiraton:
Dubbed “Brenda” the colorway pays homage to the most important person in Derrick’s life, his mother Brenda Rose. The red nubuck upper represents her favorite color, and the crackled grainy finish represents Derrick’s upbringing in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. The inside of each tongue has a close-up print of the D Rose family story graphic featured in the D Rose apparel collection and launch colorways. The left tongue features an inscription of “Brenda” in stylized red script while the right features Derrick Rose’s lasered signature.
Above all, you gotta love the homage and respect that Derrick can pay towards his mother Brenda in this lens, amongst many more. Look out for the Brendas on November 19th!
adidas Basketball releases another fresh new colorway of the D Rose 3 - the Michigan Ave. edition seen above. The inspirations clearly stem from Rose's hometown once again, but more specifically:
Dubbed “Michigan Avenue” the colorway is inspired by the lights and iconic characters that populate the avenue in Derrick’s hometown of Chicago during the holiday season. The white synthetic leather upper and midsole feature speckled dots to represent the bright lights of one the world’s best known avenues. The toe is bright blue nubuck, three stripes and lace eyelets are bright yellow and the tongue, outsole and laces are infrared to represent the iconic characters in the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival parade. The inside of each tongue features stars and a half-moon to represent D Rose’s “Poohdini” tattoo. The pattern is encircled by the satellite coordinates of Michigan Avenue and the number 1,000,000 to represent the amount of lights displayed each year during the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival which kicks off Saturday, November 17.
Wow, got to appreciate the detail. And I love the looks of it once again. It would be fitting to grab these on the Michigan Ave. adidas store in Water Tower Place on November 15th, when the shoe will be available everywhere!
Above is the newly revealed colorway for the D Rose 3 - the "90s Throwback Edition", inspired by the fashion, colors, and style of the early 90s. (Think Fresh Prince... see: GIF below.) The most notable change in this version of the 3, you know, besides the bright colors, is the graffiti tags of "South Side" and "773" in the tongue. Pretty fresh overall, don't ya say? Cop your pair on November 9th.
Dubbed, “Chicago Fire” the bold and bright electricity-colored shoe is inspired by the Chicago Fire Department in Derrick’s hometown.
The upper is made of rubberized, heavy duty synthetic materials to resemble the strong, protective feel and function of a firefighter’s turnout coat. The three stripes on the back and outsole of the shoe are gray to represent the color of knee and elbow pads on turnout coats and coveralls. The stripes on the back are also reflective material similar to turnout gear, while the black SPRINTFRAME has a smooth, clean finish to signify rubber fire boots.
The inside of the left tongue features the universal cross symbol of firefighters with the D Rose logo in the middle, and the right shoe features a lasered Derrick Rose signature.

With the Bulls preseason starting tonight, adidas picks a perfect day to release one of what I'm sure are more colorways to come of the D Rose 3. I love how they continue to draw inspiration from the hometown and the fire department is surely a motivational one. The kicks will be available tomorrow, October 10th. Would you rock them?
