I've been listening to "Day Off" for a couple of days now. I'll put the track on and then pull up the email that MoShadee sent me. I'm listening to him rhyme. I'm reading what he has written. I can’t quite figure out what to say about the track and I don't want to take anything away from his words so I'm just going to share the email with you.
"I called out of work one day this past week. My vibes were all off, energy wasn't right. Sometimes I feel as people we have to step back and collect ourselves when things aren't feeling right. That's what I did. In that time, “Day Off” was created. Enjoy."
This is a fantastic example of how we all need a little disconnect every now and then. It's important that we take a step back and analyze the situation when we feel things are not how they should be. Moving forward is key, but sometimes despite our direction being forward we might end up having to backtrack because we ignored how we were truly feeling. Listen to yourself and forget about taking shortcuts. Be in it — life — for the long haul.
MoShadee goes over J Dilla’s “On The 1” and it’s Creestal with the scratches. CM Jones continues to impress me and I cannot wait for the new project to be released. Details to come soon.
The very latest from CM Jones is a track that has been in the making for years. MoShadee said, "I've been trying for years to get this sampled in a way that would trigger me instantly to write something that was true to me, vibe worthy, something you'll instantly feel. It couldn't be forced." It's always nice to hear from artists about how much time they put into their music. This is a track that MoShadee had been thinking about doing for years and what it ended up boiling down to is four minutes of something authentic, genuine, and truly original. He took Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" and made it his own.
