More big moves for Vic Mensa as this one is quite the unique product for music videos. Via HP (yup, the computer company):
During a period of two days Clams Casino and Vic Mensa made this track and music video live on YouTube. The entire experience, which included the making of the track, the creation of tactical art pieces and prints to decorate the studio, and the production of this music video, was fueled primarily by user comments in real time.
What a concept. And one that's carried out wonderfully visually with the black/white balance with colors being on point, combined with all the interaction with words. I was watching this trying to figure out where the YouTube comments influenced it. As Vic said, they made the song and the video at the same time. Love it. And I think this can only push more barriers.
Sonically, I first vibed with the production right away. Vic's first verse is the one that'll reel ya in and one that I think ultimately proved better than the second. Give this a quick watch and see for yourself as it clocks in at just over 2 minutes.
Clams Casino and MF DOOM drop a random ambient track to vibe to. This is much different production than what Clams has produced for A$AP Mob and affiliates and fitting for the disconnected rhyme patterns of MF DOOM. Dope collaboration.
