Our new "Big 3" talk about the highs & lows between games four and five, and the uncertainty surrounding game 6. After a few days removed from Saturday's triple overtime thriller, listen in to see if we can provide proper (and coherent) perspective on the Bulls epic comeback. Also, is Thursday night a must win for the Bulls? Will this be our last recording during the season? Could/should the offseason feature a blockbuster deal for Kevin Love? Find out our thoughts on all this and more in episode 42 of the Bulls Show.
The timing couldn't be better as on the heels of the Chicago Bulls' memorable Game 4 comeback, Young General showcases his Chicago pride with the new theme song for the playoffs and beyond — "Welcome To The Madhouse". For our many out of town readers, 'The Madhouse' is the nickname for the United Center a.k.a. The Madhouse On Madison that the Chicago Blackhawks also call home. If you've been to a Bulls playoff game, or any Blackhawks game, then you know... the UC truly is a mad house.
Young General first set out to illustrate this with a motivational song recalling Queen's "We Will Rock You" (#1 on the "Mount Rushmore" of sports pump up songs). Marcus Rezak, lead guitarist of Digital Tape Machine, adds an energetic dynamic with fast-paced riffs throughout, and General does his thing with intricate rhymes and references throughout verses that separate the chanting and catchy chorus.
It was only right to premiere "Welcome To The Madhouse" with a video to drive home the united scene at the Madhouse (no pun intended) and above all: the legions of loyal Chicago sports fans that are characteristic of our city. The video is shot in various Chicago locations outside of the United Center by our own Teddy Waffles, who did all the filming, editing, and directing for this Gowhere Hip Hop presented music video! We're all proud of this project and encourage you to take a look at the video above (especially all the way through to the end for some raw footage of one of the most memorable Bulls games all season... chllls...), download the song below, and come out to the "Welcome To The Madhouse" release party this Thursday at Bottom Lounge with Zion I and ProbCause.
While the site was down this week, The Bulls Show launched their latest as Mitch & Nillz bring you "Grit & Guts". Note that it was recorded right after Game 2 the other night so keep that in mind as you press play for some breakdown of the Bulls-Nets 1st round playoff series. Game 3 is ongoing at post time so be sure to follow them on Twitter (@TheBullsShow & @MitchDontLie) for live game updates and hilarious tweets. This episode was a great one that not only touched on Bulls-Nets, Kirk Hinrich's "grit" and Joakim Noah's "guts", but also the ongoing D-Rose D-Rama and a great analysis of poor front office management. "Grit & Guts" not only features the stylings of Mitch & Nillz but also special guest, winner of The Bulls Show fantasy league, and a "tastemaker" homie of GWHH — Eugene (who needs a cool nickname). I enjoyed Euge's thoughtful commentary to the 3-man weave, how Mitch & Nillz constantly ripped on him, and the personal shoutout as well!
Mitch & Nillz welcome to the show Bulls beat writer and insider Chris Cason of Examiner.com. Chris dishes on the controversy surrounding Joakim Noah's benching and the emergence of Jimmy Butler from Saturday night's loss to Memphis. Listen in as Chris also shares his insight on this Bulls season, including the team's playoff chances and the timetable of Derrick Rose's return.
This week, Mitch & Nillz attempt to make sense of a Bulls team that's just a game over .500 at home, yet undefeated against the East's top 2 teams in Miami & New York. The guys recap yet another roller-coaster week culminating in arguably the ugliest victory of the season against the Atlanta Hawks. Your co-hosts also analyze where this team falls in the East playoff picture among other NBA news and notes. The world famous fast break concludes the show with talk of franchise relocations, musical returns, hypothetical finances, and the "discount double beef."
Today, adidas and Derrick Rose announced the official launch of the Chicago Bulls superstar's sixth signature shoe - the D Rose 3.5. The home and away colorways can be viewed above, and the details from adidas below.
The D Rose 3.5 features a bold spiral overlay pattern is inspired by Derrick’s goal to tighten his game. The synthetic leather upper features the spiral protruding from the D Rose logo on the ankle to represent how his on and off-court success continues to grow from the support of his family, who inspired the logo. Chicago call-outs on the inside of the tongue showcase the essence of Rose, including a “Rooted in Chicago” graphic with lettering, colors and shapes inspired by his tattoos and the Chicago flag. The oversized tongue features a reflective overlay of the logo to illuminate and pop on and off the court.
To exceed the performance needs for Derrick’s unique style of play which includes extreme changes in direction, acceleration and explosiveness, adidas designers made the D Rose 3.5 more supportive, comfortable and responsive than its predecessor. The shoe fits even closer to the foot for faster cuts and features a SPRINTWEB upper engineered specifically for his style of play, which reduces weight with maximum support and breathability.
Additional performance features include an ergonomic ankle collar pocket to ensure maximum support during hard cuts and a breathable mesh tongue to improve comfort. SPRINTFRAME technology features an external heel counter to reduce weight and allow for energy return and motion control, giving Derrick his best performing signature shoe to date to improve his performance on court.
Love those Chicago influences. I can't say that enough. And with #TheReturn coming closer and closer, this would be the perfect time to pick up the same kicks that Rose will rock when he comes back. They'll be available for $160 on January 31st. Can't wait to see these out on the court!
Allow us to introduce ourselves. We’re Mitch & Nillz of The Bulls Show, a podcast dedicated to Chicago’s 6-time NBA Champions. Every/most weeks we’ll be bringing you news and analysis on all things basketball and probably a little bit more. Admittedly, we’re not experts or insiders, but rather just a couple of dudes that go hard for Derrick Rose and Company. Check out our latest recording here, as well as the rest of our episodes on any of the following platforms:
Mitch & Nillz break down the Bulls most impressive stretch of the season with an analysis of the team’s win in Miami. The guys discuss whether the victory was a fluke or instilled confidence that the Bulls have a legitimate chance against the Heat in the playoffs. Also in this episode, your co-hosts cover the latest Derrick Rose updates. Apparently, the show now has (unsubstantiated) sources with "exclusive" insight on the timetable of #TheReturn. Finally, no Bulls Show would be complete without the slowest "Fastbreak" on the internet, reviewing all the latest NBA news & notes – from cereal trash talk to topless shooting.
Ed. note: Recorded before last night's loss to Milwaukee.
