Chicago Music Award nominated poet, educator, journalist and rapper Pinqy Ring has been tweeting #TheComeback for weeks now. The reason why lies within the 5-year rap career she halted in order to pursue her education while simultaneously educating her community and city. As a teacher and mentor Pinqy Ring shines, but nothing brings her more pride than writing and recording; now, she is back stronger than ever and is determined to win by any means necessary.
Releasing two singles on Christmas day is a gift of sorts, as well as a powerful way to get the ‘W’ before year-end 2012.
Her first single, “Tickets” - featuring Waka Flocka’s Brick Squad Monopoly recording artist Bo Deal, shows Pinqy’s mastery of hard bars as well as her suavé Spanish rap. With the assistance from Chicago Music Award nominated “Songwriter of the Year”/B96 Morning Show producer Gabriel Ramírez on the hook and arrangement, the track speaks about selling “woof” or “wolf” tickets, a slang term for lying or fabricating stories.
“Tickets” is Pinqy Ring’s clear statement that she is one of the real rappers left in an industry where metaphorical tickets are being exchanged or sold shamelessly. But, this lady has certainly set out to show you how she’s different.
Bo Deal and Mello G. Blanca link with Yo Gotti for a hot first release, "Clap," off Bo's upcoming Welcome To Klanville mixtape. More on this end of September release to come, so keep it locked.
