So tonight, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Electronica got Twitter acting all sorts of crazy as Sean let loose of a track that was meant for his upcoming album, Hall Of Fame, but couldn't make it due to sample clearance.
Dubbed "No I.D.""Control", you can hear this epic, 7.5 minute track where all three emcees straight rap. No hooks. Just dope bars after dope bars.
UPDATED: Dirty, no tags, CDQ.
What grabbed everyone's attention: Kendrick Lamar giving much respect to every big-name emcee in the game today... and then proceeding to declare he's going to murder them (rap talk, of course). That's what got everyone in a stir tonight.
The whole song from beginning to end is dope. Everyone's talking about Kendrick, and rightfully so, but are we a little caught up in the moment? Sean and Elect were no slack as well. Whatever your thoughts, it's a great night in hip hop on this alone, and for that, we thank you *Tosh voice*
What are your thoughts on the "No I.D." Freestyle? Your favorite verse is __________.
Whooo. What a pleasant surprise outta nowhere tonight. This Big Sean track "No I.D." didn't make the upcoming Hall Of Fame album because of the sample... and surely not because of guest stars Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica. Sean kicks off the 7.5 minute track with some real dope flows and rhymes himself with K. Dot & Jay Elect to follow suit soon after.
My favorite part from K. Dot: his intensity in sharing his respect for all the buzzing emcees of the next class, but that he's comin' for 'em... namely, "murder" all of them (rap talk murder, of course). There's that competition we're always yearning for. I hope we see a domino effect in the game stemming from this hotly discussed new verse from Kendrick Lamar.
And I'd be remiss not to mention that Jay Elect is fire also. I love all the God/Christ allusions and think his verse gets better as it goes, with this being my favorite of his rhymes:
Jay Electricity, PBS Mysteries in a lofty place tangling with Satan over History.

UPDATED: Dirty, no tags, CDQ (above, too). Also... it's officially called "Control".
In a fresh way to hype up the upcoming album, Big Sean himself breaks down track by track Hall Of Fame in this new video above. He either explains how a record came together or the meaning of the messages behind it. From the sounds of it, I think we'll be in store for a versatile record where Sean has a mix of soulful and party records, but all, as he says, honest. If that certainly comes across, then even if you can't directly relate to a record, you'll be able to appreciate it. Sean also names many of the producers and featured vocalists on the records — No I.D. gettin' a lot of love, as he's named the producer of "First Chain" with Nas & Kid Cudi (my most anticipated track, considering the guest stars). Needless to say, I'm lookin' forward to August 27th to cop Sean's sophomore album, Hall Of Fame.
Yep, you read that right. Big Sean is doing a promotion through fundraising platform Prizeo where a small $3 donation to help kids in need could net you a trip to the MTV VMAs and hang out with Big Sean on the red carpet. The money goes to the rapper's own Sean Anderson foundation, a non-profit that is working to provide quality educational programs for inner-city kids. More specifically, some money will go to children in Sean's hometown of Detroit and an after school organization called P'Tones Records. P'Tones is a free after school program that puts kids in a realistic music studio environment and helps them create their own songs. Sounds like a lot of fun, I wish I had that when I was a kid.
Entry in the contest could also get you Aura Gold merchandise or some "Hall of Fame Edition" Sol Republic Headphones. Hit up the Prizeo page for more info and to make your donation for a chance to win.
Well, well, well Ms. Ariana Grande aren’t we just the talented individual? I’m not going to bore you guys with the obvious Mariah Carey comparisons; because it’s evident she’s inspired by Mariah’s singing style. Today the talented young songbird issued her new song, “Right There,” to fans that preordered her debut album, Yours Truly, from iTunes. Grande released “Right There” as a promotional single. Also being unveiled today is the singer’s official track list for her album.
Yours Truly, features a whopping total of 13 tracks, including popular hit singles “The Way” featuring Mac Miller and “Baby I.” The album will feature appearances from Big Sean, Mac Miller, and Nathan Sykes. Dare I say I’m looking forward to hearing Ariana’s album? I always fall victim to powerhouse vocals *shrugs*. If this album is great, which its looking that way to be, I will most certainly be purchasing it on September 3rd when it hits stores. Check the track list below…
Yep, Drake dropped a new single this morning. Because being the talk of the music world with his OVO Fest and numerous artist friends making appearances (like Kanye West) wasn't enough. Hey, no complaints here. I like the smooth new single that should be all over your radios as we head into Nothing Was The Same next month. See our own Jodeci's thoughts and weigh in with your own here.
