You might recall a shocking headline from May about Araabmuzik being shot in an attempted robbery. Thankfully, the MPC whiz is well on his way to a full recovery, and was healthy enough to play a set at Bonaroo a few weeks ago. Araab recently sat down with XXL to talk about what's next for him. That long rumored collaboration with A$AP is apparently still in the pipeline, although is delayed for now due to schedule conflicts. He's currently working on a few things right now, having just put out a remix album, and is currently doing some stuff for Slaughterhouse. Good to hear that he's back on track after what must've been a crazy couple of months.
Here's a Monday morning treat for you: araabMUZIK's new album is available 8 days before its release next Tuesday, July 9th, for a free, full stream via Pitchfork Advance. A handful of tracks in and it's another instant hit and collective *Tibs Fav. as araab always provides dope soundtracks to work to (for me).
In the process, I solved one mystery. Maks and I searched through araab's catalogue when we did the video of his live performance (brought back below) a couple of months ago. The second song at the 1:25 mark is in fact a new track off the album, araab's remix of "Still My Baby" f/ Omarion (track 5 up above). Super fresh to hear the full version. Enjoy!
araabMUZIK, still recovering from a near-death attempted robbery and shooting, isn't letting that hold him back from releasing hot new tunes. In fact, two new tracks are accompanied by the announcement of a new LP, The Remixes, Vol. 1, which will find the beatsmith flipping tracks from Ultra Records artists like DeadMau5 and Steve Aoki. The only rapper slated to appear on the project so far is Chase N. Cashe.
Now for the tracks: Mt. Eden's "Sierra Leone" is an addicting trans hit in its own right. I was first introduced to it with QuESt's "One Way" (an amazing video, btw) and now araab adds another house/dubstep twist. I knew I'd have this one bumpin' in the rotation before I pressed play. Another one that will most certainly be added is "Keep It In Motion". This new version is 4:37 long and is straight up dope from beginning to end. Vibe out to these two below and be on the lookout for more araab sure to come this summer!
Producer and MPC maverick AraabMuzik was rumored to have been shot during an attempted robbery in Rhode Island. Details have yet to surface but according to the twitters of Duke Da God & Avatar Darko, both of whom have worked with Araabmuzik recently, they were trying to rob him of his jewelry. Apparently, Araab refused and that's when he was shot an undisclosed amount of times. The picture above indicates that he has survived and is recovering in the hospital with friends and family at his side. We recently covered his show at The Mid a few weeks ago, and everyone at GoWhere is a fan and wish him a speedy recovery.
