Action Bronson took to St. Hilda's retirement center in London to perform his latest single "Strictly 4 My Jeeps" for a group of senior citizens. His appearance caused confusion among the crowd, with one of the attendees saying "No, he didn't give me the impression that that was what he was when he came in - a rap-singer. I always think of them as slim young boys, doing - moving about a lot." Another woman stated, "He's quite handsome," while a pair added in agreement that they liked his beard.
After the performance, which Bronson dubbed "the most electrifying performance of my career," the retirees rated Bronson a 5.2/10. This mediocre score was due to a consensus that the music was too loud and too fast. Just image if Twista had come through instead.
Here's another sample of Action's upcoming "SAAAB Stories" EP, "Watersports" produced by Harry Fraud. He raps about doing endos on jetskis and other crazy things through clever wordplay and a thick Queens accent. Check out the tasty track that the pair cooked up above.
It's certainly not hard to tell this guy likes to eat, but here's something you might not have known: Queens rapper Action Bronson is as renown for his skills in the kitchen as on the mic. The dude used to be a gourmet chef in New York City! You learn something new every day.
In a recent interview with MTV, Action expressed interest in possibly starting his own cooking show. He has some prior experience - namely a web series he did a few years back called "Action in the Kitchen." But apparently, a cooking show featuring Bronson at the helm is in the works, though don't expect him to replace Paula Deen on Food Network or anything.
"I don’t know if the Food Network is the right home for me," said Bronson. "But yeah, I’m working on a cooking show. I can’t really speak on the details, but we’re having talks."
Also mentioned in the interview is his desire to feature fellow Queens talent Nas on a song, together with another local legend Kool G Rap, for a kind of "Queens super-collabo" as MTV puts it. Let's hope that comes to fruition as well.
Check out an episode of "Action in the Kitchen" below.
Action Bronson recruits a couple fellow New Yorkers to make "Strictly For My Jeeps" even bigger. LL & LB flank him with new verses on this one. LL actually really kills it on the first verse. And this song now has an even more complete NY feel. (Clean/tags for now. UPDATE: CDQ above!)
