Great show. Thamk yiu for focusing on the topic of a gun owner's rilbonsipisety to know and understand the law. My first year of ownership, I caught someone breaking into my garage. It ended with me chasing the perp to the end of the block. I had drawn my firearm as I confronted him. However, I kept my firearm pointed at him as I pursued him. I repeatedly yelled for him to stop and lay down on the ground. He kept running and pleading for me not to kill him. Needless to say, I stopped the chase and he continued running.During the chase, my mind was running through the implications if I discharged my firearm. Admittedly, I was very angry that this person had the audacity to break into my garage and was going to take items that I had paid for with my hard earned money. I came to the realization that I could not shoot this individual because my life was not in iminent danger. He was not a threat to me. After I ended the chase, a witness to the incident stated that I could have shot him in the leg. I knew this was bad advice coming from someone who did not understand the state's firearm laws. Now looking back on it, I realized that I could have been charged with unlawfully brandishing a firearm. And, what if a patrol car was riding through the neighborhood as I was pursuing this guy with my gun drawn? The perp immediately vacated my property once confronted so there was no threat to my life. To this day, I thank God that I thought it through and did not pull the trigger no matter how bad I wanted to send a message to anyone who would consider stealing from me.Just something I wanted to share.By the way, I carry one firearm but two to four mags for comfort. I carry a minimum of 36 rounds daily. Based on what I have rad, most gun fights only last less than 15 seconds. But, I have a fear of running out of ammo during a gun fight. Besides, I assume there may be multiple threats not just one.Keep up the great work. I look forward to your podcasts each week.
