In some sad news today, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Aaron Michael Cox passed away last Friday after a bout with stage 4 testicular cancer. AMC was an artist of Chicago hit producers Da Internz - and a fast-rising one at that, as he was just months away from signing a major record label deal. Cox has also worked with the likes of Nas & Ludacris, in addition to his solo work including his single I spotlighted above called "Walk Away". It's an emotional and relatable track about relationships that features a lot of on-point metaphors and wonderful vocals that stand out over a simple, yet complimentary production. The ending especially - both words and execution - is especially beautiful. Listening to the song is even heavier on the heart after the tragic news of Cox's passing, but "Walk Away" is already rocking strong in my R&B rotation. Shouts to the homie Faraz Mirza for puttin' us on to him. Check out the song for yourself and rest in piece to the talented Aaron Michael Cox.
